Ch 1-10
Summary
Starting a new school when you’re so close to graduating is a person’s worst nightmare. but that’s what I did, when mum god a big promotion. instantly hated by the queen bee. targeted because her boyfriend looked at for too long. so cliche right? Nico Dallas is tall broody and untouchable, yet he can’t seem to leave me alone. he invites me to join his crew. A crew that has rules. A crew that is as much bad as it is good. Nico makes me fall for him, but I can’t have him. mum lied. everything is falling apart around me, and then on the night of my 18th birthday, the unthinkable happened. I survive, just, but for how long.
Chapter 1
Winter in London is miserable and cold. like the kind of cold that sinks deep inside your bones.
I have lived here my entire life which is 17 years 6 months and 5 days. me and mum live in a small 2 bed semi-detached house in Dunstable, near Luton.
I have a good life, a calm life. I’m not one of those teenagers who goes out drinking and smoking weed. I’m home at a decent time and try not to cause mum worry.
dad left when I was 9. he just decided one day he wasn’t going to be a husband or a father and left. but I still miss him and long to see him again.
I have friends who I adore. a boyfriend who is recent, and somewhat Aloof. but I’m happy. my life is settled. life is normal, life is moving in the direction I like.
mum is a writer for the daily mail. she travels quite a bit. always wanting to get the next top story. she’s good at what she does. with that being said, we live modestly, not rich, just comfortable.
But sadly, it’s all coming to an end. mum got an offer of a lifetime and is now dragging me across the world to New York. I want to say I’m mad, but I’m also a little excited.
Some big wig in New York offered her a job in their magazine. people magazine is a big thing in America. mums writing skills are in high demand. go figure.
The job comes with accommodation, a car and after one-year, full residency. we sat and discussed it for more than 5 hours last night and I’m supporting her choice.
I’ll be attending west pacific prep. a Prestigious school for the rich and wealthy. I’m not sure who or how it was pulled off, but their education is not to be scoffed at.
Everything is packed and all our larger belongings are being held in storage. after one year and we decide to stay, they will be sold, and the money will go to my aunt Teresa.
It won’t be easy to fit into a new school when the year ends in six months. but mum assures me that the school I’m attending accommodates ages from 16 to 21, so I can choose to stay on if I want.
my grades are good, solid B+ all the way. I want to be a social worker. I want to help families and kids who have struggled to find a forever home.
I don’t sleep well that night. my mind constantly spinning. scenarios play in my mind. what if I’m not liked? what if I’m shunned? what if all the girls I meet are complete bitches?
“You look like I feel.” Mum says, coming to sit at the table with a cup of coffee where I’ve been siting for the last hour.
“I didn’t sleep well.” I grunt.
“Same. I keep having doubts that this is all a mistake.” I see the worry in her eyes.
“don’t do that. I think this will be great.” who am I trying to convince here.
I don’t like her having doubts, they then make me have doubts and we can’t afford those, not now. not this close to leaving.
I met up with Misha and Boo last night. Devlin didn’t show, no Suprise there. we had burgers and ice-cream. they have been my best friends since junior school. both excited and sad for me that I’m leaving.
“I know.” she sighs. “I just want you to be happy. I want you to have the best of the best, it’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
I hug her from the side. her head falling to my collar. “I’ve had the best. I have the best mum, because I have you. I’ve never needed anything.” I squeeze her shoulder, and she nods.
“Your right. as long as we have each other. we can see this as a big adventure. me as the new face of people magazine and you as the new Queen Bee of Pacific prep.” I laugh at her comment.
“don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m no queen bee. I don’t do all that cheer leading shit or go to football games and scream at boys running around after a football.”
“You could. I mean, would it be so bad to wear a tiny uniform and shake some pom poms.” we both laugh, and I grab a coffee for myself.
“Yeah, nah. not for me.” I eventually add.
“I think everyone will be enthralled with your British accent.” she muses.
“I doubt it. it’s not like I’ll be the first person from the UK to attend their school.” I scoff sitting down.
“Ok, then they will be enraptured by your beauty.” she winks and sips her coffee.
we chat for a bit longer. mum finally clearing our cups and packing them away. it all seems so final, and I take a final look around the only home I’ve ever known.
we are leaving for the airport in an hour. aunt Teresa is driving us and then keeping mum’s car to store in her garage. my room looks empty. my bed now sits unmade and a large white sheet covering the mattress.
Teresa will oversee the removal men when they clear out the house next week. I have so many memories in this room. some good. some heartbreaking.
once the car is loaded and we climb inside, I can’t help the tears that fall down my cheeks. mum squeezes my hand from the front seat as Teresa navigates us away from the house.
The airport is busy and noisy. we say an emotional farewell to Teresa and watch her drive away. mum and she were not really that close, but they were there for each other if needed.
we check in, go through security and wait. I think the waiting part is the worst when traveling. don’t get me wrong I like to people watch. but after an hour, I’m bored, so I pull out my kindle and get lost in a fictional world.
the flight is 12 hours, and I plan to sleep for most of it. mum looks relaxed as I sit near the window and watch the clouds get thinner the higher, we go.
after some food, I lay flat and drift off into fitful sleep. the plane is quiet but with people constantly getting up and walking about, it’s annoying.
I dream of new beginnings. meeting new faces, me laughing and happy. I dream of meeting a boy, No, a man. I don’t see his face except for his blonde hair and his blue eyes. we walk hand in hand. he kisses me. we are in love.
I wake with a start. my heart beating out of my chest. I have never in my life dreamt such a vivid dream. I’m brought from my thoughts with the pilot announcing we will be landing shortly.
mum gives me a smile which I return, and we fasten our belts ready to land. I’m so ready to get off this plane and get to our new home. I just hope everything works out for us.
Chapter 2
American houses are big. that’s the first thought I have when we pull up at our new home. its big, like you see in the movies. 3 bedrooms that could easily fit 5. my bathroom is probably bigger than my bedroom back home.
The front door opens to and large entry, marble floors and a staircase that sweeps up to the right. on the left is a large open living room that lets in natural light.
the room next to that is the kitchen, with a dining room off that. the kitchen is huge. like whom needs a kitchen this big. sure, mum cooks but wow. this is crazy.
“Do you like it.” mum asks walking up to me and throwing her arms over my shoulders.
“it’s something else. why is it so big.” I ask looking around, my eyes landing on everything.
“that’s how it is here. I don’t understand it either. let’s check out upstairs.” I follow her to the stairs and shake my head in disbelief.
we climb to the top and she turns left. a small hallway and we stop at the first door. when she opens it, my mouth hits the floor.
“Oh my god.” the room is huge. the large bed being the main feature.
“This is your room.” mum smiles and moves to the window.
“there’s a tree outside. you could use it to sneak out at night.” she giggles, and I follow her sight.
there is indeed a tree outside, and you could literally climb onto the branches and climb down easily. not that I’ll be doing that.
“If I want to sneak out, I’ll use the front door like a normal person.” I tease and she chuckles.
“I’ve never known you to sneak anywhere. but maybe this is a good thing.” she muses.
“You want me to sneak out. why.” I ask confused.
“it’s not that I want you too. I just want you to enjoy being here. be a teenager. have fun. be reckless. but be safe.” I look at her like she’s grown two heads.
“I’m not a reckless person mum. but if I turn to the dark side. I’ll let you know.” we both snigger like teenagers.
the rest of the room is gorgeous. a large walk-in closet. a full bathroom with a deep claw foot bath. the floor is heated, and I can feel it through my socks.
“Your uniform should be arriving later today. I have to meet with Glen this afternoon. will you be ok on your own.” I nod as we walk to another room.
it’s a smaller one, but mum tells me we can keep it as a spare in case we have guests. the last room is mums and its almost as big as mine. but no less amazing.
“I have one more Suprise for you.” she takes my hand and leads me down to the garage.
when the lights flicker on, I see a brand-new Subaru BRZ. its bright blue and shiny. but mum look so proud as she smiles down at me.
“I don’t have a license.” I choke walking over to the beautiful car.
“We can change that. you’ll need to drive yourself to school. it’s not far but New York winters are just as cold as London.”
“Mum.” I whisper as she told me in her arms.
“We can get your permit tomorrow and I’ll take you for some lessons. I can drop you at school for the first week, but then it’s all up to you.” I nod because I know she’ll be busy.
“Thank you, mum. this is too much.” I choke on my words as she squeezes me.
“Nothing is too much for you. you’re my baby and I love you.” she kisses the top of my head.
“I love you too.” I reply sniffling.
we spend the rest of the afternoon unpacking clothes. we then drive into town so she can meet Glen. I decided to go with her, just so I could watch her drive. she made it look so easy, and I hope that I can do her proud.
the roads aren’t super complicated. just lots of stop signs and traffic lights. we pass the school so mum can show where I need to go, and it all seems so simple.
we grab some burgers on the way home and eat in our new kitchen while chatting about the day so far. after we are done the front doorbell rings and mum rushes off to answer it.
she comes back with a hand full of bags and boxes. “This must be your new uniform.” she sets it all down and starts to open it.
she pulls out Mary jane shoes, and I gush at how cute they are. she then hands me a small black skirt with gold trim, a white shirt and a black blazer with the same gold trim.
“This is actually pretty cool.” I muse pulling on the blazer and doing a spin.
“It fits you like a glove. I’m so pleased. try the shoes.” she says excitedly.
everything fits perfectly and I’m so happy about that. “Tomorrow will be a test for both of us. I know it’s all rushed, but I don’t want you to miss anymore school than necessary.”
“I get it, it’s cool. I’m actually excited to go there.” mum smiles.
“Good. this is going to be great. now, let’s get ready for bed. I’m exhausted.” I look to the clock and see its almost 9 in the evening.
“Oh, before I forget. this is your new phone. full, unlimited data. my number is programmed in. so is the school and my new office.” I nod and take it with a thanks.
“You have a TV in your room; download anything you want. tomorrow I’ll get groceries on the way home from work.” she kisses my cheek and hugs me tight.
“Sweet dreams mum.” I mumble into her bosom.
when I finally collapse in bed. my mind is wired. I keep thinking of the dream I had on the plane. the blonde man with blue eyes. will I meet anyone close to that? what did it mean?
with my window open. I fall asleep slowly. this neighborhood is so quiet, not many cars drive past. just the slow and steady swish of the swinging branches form the tree outside. the leaves that flutter gently in the breeze. its peaceful.
Chapter 3
Welcome to Pacific Prep. where great minds come together. I stand under the large archway looking up to the plague on the wall. great minds huh?
mum just dropped me off. gave me 50 dollars and said have a great day. I’m now standing outside the gate looking a little lost. maybe even a little crazy.
“You need some help.” I small soft voice breaks through my thoughts.
a tiny girl, maybe 4″10 is standing with a boy. he’s cute but with a grungy look to him. he’s taller maybe 5’10. I’m close to 5’5 so he’s still taller than me.
“Oh, hey. yeah, it’s my first day. I’m not sure where I should be going.”
“Your British. oh my god.” she squeals in excitement.
I cringe because she’s drawing attention to us, and I feel suddenly very exposed. “Yes. from London. I’m Teal.” I hold out my hand.
“Teal. that’s so cool. I’m Harper, this is Bass.” she shakes my hand, and he does the same but with a grunt.
“don’t mind him. he’s gay and feeling lonely.” I blink at her abrupt rudeness.
“Okey.” I don’t know what else to say to that.
“Come on. we can show you the way.” she takes my arm and pulls me through the gates.
“what’s the deal.” I ask spotting the line of expensive cars in the parking lot. I also spot a few students mingling close to those expensive cars.
“that’s millionaires’ row. us lower people park further away. most of them think their better than god.” Bass grunts at her comment.
“Bass used to be with the in crowd. but after a brief encounter with…” she stops herself as Bass elbows her in the side.
“Ouch. not cool Bass. I wasn’t going to say anything incriminating.” he huffs and opens the door for us to enter.
“it’s cool. I don’t need to know your business.” I reply and Bass nods.
“Reception is to the left. go get your things and we will wait here for you.” I’m grateful. I must look like a fish out of water.
the reception area is modern and sleek. a tall white desk sits front and center. potted plants line the top and a woman stands clicking on a computer keyboard. her red hair sitting in a bun on top of her head.
“Welcome. how can I help you.” she asks with a sweet tone.
“Teal Grant. I’m new. I was told to come see you for my welcome package.” she smiles wider and offers me her hand.
“Nice to meet you, Teal. I’m Mrs. Rafford. I also teach English lit. welcome honey.” I instantly relax as she gets my papers printed.
I look around and see students walking past. most don’t look up from their phones. but some do and when I smile, I get one in return. it’s comforting.
“Here we are honey. your locker combination is on there. that’s your schedule and a list of extracurricular activities you’ll need to join. you can choose two for your extra end of year credit. you’re a late starter, but it would carry on next semester if you chose to stay.”
I thank her and join Harper and bass who are talking in hushed tones when I reach them. “Let me see your Scheule.” Harper holds out her hand.
“We have English lit. American history and Calculus together. you have Gym with Bass.” I relax a little. at least I won’t be alone.
A group of students walk past. Two girls at the front and Five boys at the back. one in particular catches my attention. he’s tall. thick shoulders, thicker thighs and blonde hair.
I, suck in a breath. could it be the man from my dream. his eyes flit to me briefly and I see the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen. my heart does a stutter in my chest.
“You don’t want to go there. trust me on that.” Harper pulls me from my thoughts.
Blonde hair guy has since looked away. he’s chatting with one of the other guys he came in with. “that’s Nico Dallas. he’s a Bonafide Sociopath.” that comment comes from Bass.
“Noted. and uh, thanks for the tip.” I don’t know what he expects me to say.
“Come on. let’s get to Calculus. it’s always a good way to start the day.” I’m sensing Harper is a bit of a nerd. not that there’s anything wrong with that.
we enter the class, and harper leads me to a row of middle seats. The room is large and feels open. there’s a smell of fresh cut grass in the air. must be the opens windows.
I get a few curious looks from a few girls, but mostly everyone smiles as I take my seat. “Mr. Turnbridge is a stickler for time. if your late he will give you detention.” Harper tells me quietly.
Mr. Turnbridge enters the room a few seconds later. right as the bell rings. he’s a smartly dressed man, full suit. he’s got a cropped beard and wears black framed glasses. he looks to be mid 40s.
“We have a new student with us today. Teal Grant. I’m not one for making a show. so, I hope everyone will make her feel welcome.” I’m so grateful he doesn’t make me stand up and introduce myself.
soon the class is underway, and I struggle to keep up at first. harper helps me along the way but soon, it’s like riding a bike, you never forget.
“Your actually really smart.” harper tells me when the class ends.
“Thanks. I actually enjoy school.” I reply as we file out into the corridor.
my chest slams into a large body, making me lose my footing and almost landing me on my butt. strong hands hold me, keeping me from falling. “Watch it mouse.” the gruff tone make me look up.
I’m staring into the bluest eyes. his hair is even more blonde than in my dream. his high cheek bones and straight nose make him so unbearably gorgeous.
“Sorry.” I mumble pushing away from him.
Harper takes my arm and drags me away. my head spinning around to take one last look at the beautiful guy named Nico. but sadly, he’s already gone.
“That was close. let’s get a snack before English.” I follow Harper into a busy cafeteria.
there are round tables in rows. blue seats. 8 to each table. we walk to the area where the food is cooked and placed in containers. then there’s salad bowls. fruit cups. drinks and crisps.
I grab a container with some chips; some fruit and a bottle of water. we pay the stern looking lady sitting on a stool, she looks bored out of her mind poor woman.
then we find a seat.
Chapter 4
“how’s your day so far.” harper asks with a mouthful of food, who knew math class could be Two hours long.
“Not too bad. I have Gym next, and I can honestly say I’m a little nervous.” I reply shoving a chip in my mouth.
“don’t be. Bass will be there. you’ll probably play dodgeball, or volleyball. you may even run track first to warm up.” great, I hate exercise.
“Great. never been much of a runner.” I grumble to myself.
“it’s a good place to be. you can watch all the jocks throw a football around. all that muscle.” she fake gags and I laugh.
“I bet that’s where you like to be huh.” I ask Bass who turns red in the cheeks.
“Sorry, that was rude of me.” I apologize and he shrugs.
“it’s cool. I only came out last year. it’s all still new and apparently still the talk of the school.” the room goes quiet, and I turn my head to see Nico, and his group enter through the door.
in all my days have I never seen so many girls puff up their chests and make themselves look taller and more available. it’s a sight to see. but unfortunately, the group doesn’t acknowledge anyone.
Nico looks my way briefly, and I swear I see a small smirk on his handsome face. but all too soon he’s walked past and is sitting at the one of the tables in the far corner.
“See the one with the black hair. the one with the eyebrow piercing.” I nod and Bass stiffens.
“that’s Dane Powel. he and Bass…” she stops herself and Bass relaxes.
“Dane and I hooked up last year. his crew found out and he spun a story that made me look pathetic and him a god. I was shunned. forced to leave the crew. Dane hasn’t spoken to me since.”
I don’t understand any of it. I mean, gay, lesbian. Queer. Bi. it’s not the Middle Ages. what right does someone have to treat another person that way.
“Why would he do that.” I ask confused.
“Why indeed. it’s all to show face to Nico and the others. can’t be gay and be part of the crew. you need to be tuff and strong. blah, blah, blah.” Harper finishes for him.
“They throw epic parties in the forest. anyone who’s anyone wants to be there. all the girls want a chance to sleep with one of them. the guys all want to be part of the crew.” Bass looks over his shoulder briefly.
“that’s messed up. what do you get from being in the crew.” I ask curious.
“Protection. a family. all the pussy you could ever need. status. it’s crazy.” I cringe from his words.
“that’s mental. why would all the girls want to lower their standards. why is everyone in such a rush to have sex. what happened to equal rights. let me guess. you’re instantly a slut if you sleep with them.” I question and harper nods.
“I knew you’d get it. that’s exactly what it means. its gross.” she scrunches her nose.
“They do bad shit too. they fight. sell drugs. steal cars and race bikes.” bass fills me in.
my whole-body shudders. that’s not my scene. I’m a home body. I like quiet. the thought of even going near that crowd fills me with the heebie geebies.
my eyes lock with a pair of blue ones. Nico is watching me, and I don’t know why. the girl on his left stops talking and follows his line of sight. great, now I’m on her radar.
“that’s Nancy Matlow. she’s Nico’s sort of girlfriend.” Bass chuckles at harpers words.
“He doesn’t do girlfriends. he has fuck buddies. Nancy knows the score.” I look away from their table.
“Do you ever go to their parties.” I ask crunching into an apple slice.
“of course. we don’t stay long, but your classed as an outcast if you don’t show your face and bow down to the crew.” I whip my head towards her.
“Like literally bow.” I ask with a disgusted face.
“You have to bring an offering. mainly booze or drugs. they then nod to accept you or shake their head, and you leave.” I look back to Bass.
“You both get nods.” I ask and they both nod back.
“Even with bass and Dane’s history. Nico likes to keep him close. I’m there by extension.” harper adds sipping her drink.
“you’re not an extension. you became my friend when everyone else turned their back me. I’m grateful to you Harp.” he means it too.
“Am I an extension to this little love triangle.” I tease and harper nudges my side.
“What do you say Bass. does she pass the test.” Bass smiles and I have to say it’s a nice smile.
“Sure. your in.” I feel so excepted right now I could cry.
“Just stay away from Austin. he’s the one with blue hair. he’s a mean son of a bitch. he’s worse than Nico and loves drama.” bass adds making me shiver.
“Stay away from Blue haired guy, got it.” I say making them chuckle.
we continue to enjoy our break. we talk about anything and everything. Harper is actually really funny. she tells the best jokes and drops one, liners like a comedy act.
“Well, look at this. who’s the new chick Bassy boy.” my head turns to the newcomer. a thin looking guy with a nose piercing.
“Tadd. this is Teal. Teal this is Tadd. school parasite and local rapist.” Bass sneers.
Tadd laughs loudly, I honestly don’t know what was so funny, but hay ho. Tadd sneers back at Bass. the two of them in some kind of silent war.
“You only wish I would rape your skinny ass.” he then looks at me. “Come hang with us. theses losers will only bring you down.” I get the feeling this guy is a major creep.
“I’m fine where I am thanks.” I reply and his eyes go wide.
“British. I like it. been a while since we had one of you here.” he leers down at me.
“Fuck off Tadd. go take your rapey eyes somewhere else.” Bass says through his gritted teeth.
Tadd laughs. it’s a horrible laugh really. I don’t like him at all. he eventually walks away. Two others following his lead.
“Raping bastard.” Bass mutters under his breath.
“You want to fill me in.” I ask quietly.
harper sighs. we finish our lunch and Bass stands up. “let’s meet up at lunch outside, we need privacy for this conversation.” I follow their lead and dump my tray.
Chapter 5
The outside area is green and well maintained. the grass is thick and cushions my butt when I sit down under a large tree. English Lit was actually fun. Mrs. Rafford is now my new favorite teacher.
“Last year. we had an exchange student from London. her name was Molly Debenham. she was pretty. cool to talk to.” Bass starts the conversation.
“I was still in the crew then. Tadd is between crews. he’s half in Nico’s crew and half out, only because he’s Nico’s cousin.” he adds.
“Anyway. she came to one of the parties. I saw her there. she was chatting with Nico one minute, then walking off with Tadd the next.” he stops to think.
“The next day, she was rushed to hospital. Nico and I went to see her. we don’t know what happened or who found her. but all she said was Tadd. over and over again. Tadd, Tadd, Tadd. it was haunting.” his eyes flick to mine.
“She left shortly after that. Nico and his family made everything disappear. but she’s not the first girl to leave Tadd’s company in a state of shock. he’s a bastard but we can’t prove anything.”
“You must have heard something being in the crew.” I ask but he shakes his head.
“that’s the night I fucked Dane for the first time. the next day he slayed me open in front of the whole school. I think maybe Nico requested it, to take the heat off Tadd and his family.”
“Why are you looking at me like that.” he asks, and I mutter under my breath.
“Sorry. I thought you would be the bottom.”
“Right. I said the same thing.” harper adds with a giggle.
“Hey. I’m a very dominant top thank you very much.” we all laugh before we sober.
“Sorry. so, everything just went away.” I ask and he nods.
“I’m telling you. the crew is evil. the things I’ve seen and heard. they treat girls like dirt. Nico is clever. but I also think he’s incredibly lonely.” Harper scoffs at his comment
“Lonely my ass.” Bass shakes his head at her words.
“He grew up with wealthy parents. he lives alone when they travel. even with the crew. he’s always alone.” I guess if anyone can see that, its Bass.
“Enough of this heavy shit. let’s get burgers after school.” Harper pipes up and we all nod.
“Sounds great. mum is teaching me to drive. I’m scared shitless.” Harper touches me arm.
“If it makes you feel any better. Bass doesn’t drive either.” I look to Bass who blushes.
“I can drive, but I suffer with PTSD. my dad was killed on a car accident when I was 12. kind of stuck with me.” I reach for his hand, and he lets me hold him.
“I’m sorry. my dad left when I was 9. just took off one day and didn’t come back. my mum is great. she works for people magazine, that’s why I’m here, she got a promotion, of sorts.” we all stand and gather our bags.
“Well, I’m glad your here.” Harper squeezes my arm, and we make our way towards the gym hall.
Harper bids us goodbye and I make my way into the locker room. today has been full on. now I have a grueling Two-hour PE lesson to survive.
The locker room is large and smells of sweaty socks, mixed with shampoo and body spray. blue lockers line the walls. wooden benches form a line down the middle of the room and showers sit at the far end.
girls chatter as I enter, some ignoring me, some giving me quizzical looks. I find my locker and open it up. its empty of course but there is a musty smell to it.
“Teal right.” I jump when a voice sounds behind me.
“Shit. you scared me.” I whine holding my hand to my chest.
“Sorry.” she giggles. “I’m Nancy, this is Val.” she points to another girl behind her.
“Hey. nice to meet you.” she nods her head.
“So. England huh. heard is as cold as New York.” I relax slightly.
“Certainly is.” I reply as she stands with her arms crossed.
“When do you go back.” ok wow. wasn’t expecting that.
“I don’t know. a year maybe. we might stay.” I reply as she steps closer.
ok, this just got real. why is she so close? I can smell her lemon shampoo. she’s pretty. long dark hair pulled up in a tight ponytail.
“I’m just going to be real, ok.” I nod as her friend glares.
“You stay in your lane. I’ll stay in mine. we don’t need to become friends. we don’t need to become enemies. but I will come for you if you look at Nico again.” I want to scoff but I feel that will make shit worse.
“Got it. stay away from Nico.” I nod my head to please her.
“Good. welcome to pacific prep.” she turns, and her ponytail hits me in the face.
I have no idea why she feels threatened by me, but then again, if what Haper said was true, she’s had a lot of competition where Nico is concerned. still does if the rumors are true.
Harper as right earlier. we start the class by running track and I hate every second of it. I’m a sweaty mess before I’ve even completed one lap. Bass laughs jogging beside me as I struggle to breath.
she’s also right about the football players that I can see throwing the ball back and forth. Nico is one of them. I can clearly see his blonde hair, his muscled legs and his wide shoulders.
my eyes connect with him on my second lap. that’s right when the ball that was thrown to him hits his chest and rolls towards me. I have Two options. keep going or stop.
I stop. I pick the ball up and throw into his waiting hands. “Nice Thow Mouse.” Nico doesn’t smile when he praises me. just turns around and walks away.
when I start to jog again, I remember Nancy’s warning. luckily, she’s on the other side of the track and talking a mile a minute to Val. I don’t need to start shit. I like it peaceful.
when the run ends, we play a round of dodgeball. Val gets a couple of good hits in where I’m concerned. I even manage to hit Nancy a few times, much to her disgust.
all in all, it’s been a good day. now I need a shower and get home so I can nap. maybe mum can push back the driving lessons when my muscles have a chance to return to normal.
Chapter 6
“Turn right here and that takes us back home.” mum instructs me and I follow her orders.
Driving has been fun. I only messed up once causing a man to honk his horn at me and cuss me out. but all in all, I was confident, and mum beamed with pride.
we pull into the drive, and I cut the engine. “That was so much fun.” I clap my hands in delight.
“You did good. maybe another couple of lessons and you’ll be ready to go it alone.” she wiggles her brows at me making me chuckle.
“I agree. but this car is damn fine to drive.” I get out and shut her door respectfully.
“I’m glad you like it. come on let’s go make dinner and you can tell me all about your day.” she hugs me to her side as we walk inside the house.
after tacos, we go our separate ways. mum has an office off the living room where she spends all her time. to say her workload is full on is an understatement.
I’m just finishing my homework when my phone vibrates. I gave Harper and Bass my number before we left the burger joint. its lucky I saw Harper after gym, because me and Bass had both forgot.
I answer the facetime call to a smiling Harper. “O.M.G. the first party of this semester has just been posted. say you’ll come.”
she’s so excited, she’s bouncing up and down on her bed. “I thought it wasn’t your scene” I ask curiously.
“What. when did I say that. I mentioned being an extension of Bass, not that I didn’t enjoy going.” I guess she did say that.
“You said it wasn’t your scene. but please, please say you’ll go. don’t forget an offering. I can probably sneak an extra bottle if your mom’s, not cool with you going.” she adds in quick succession.
“Honestly, its fine. I’ll ask mum to grab me a bottle of something. but are you sure its ok for me to go. you know I had a warning from Nancy already.” she scoffs at my reply.
“she’s a bitch. she does that to everyone. but he still sleeps around on her. she never actually harms anyone. it’s just that, a warning.”
“That makes me feel so much better, gee thanks Harp.” I chuckle and she smiles.
“So, yeah. you’ll come right. we can get ready together. you could come here, no, better not, my parents are not cool.” she giggles, and I roll my eyes.
“You can come here. wait, when is it.” I ask feeling stupid.
“Tomorrow night.” I almost fall off my chair.
“That soon. why.” I ask falling onto my bed.
“First Friday of the last semester. they do one party on the first Friday of every semester. last year they had fire breathers. it was so cool.”
“Fire breathers in a forest.” I frown.
“don’t be such a girl. it’s fine. everyone was perfectly safe. well, except for Harriet Clauson, but she got to close, and her hair singed, that was her fault.” she grins at me, and I huff.
“I’m going to regret this aren’t I.” I grunt but she just laughs.
“Absolutely not. see you tomorrow at school.” we end the call, and it rings again in my hand.
“Misha. my god I miss you already.” she yells that she misses me too.
“Where the hell are you.” I ask as she spins the phone to a room full of people.
“Was that Devlin.” I ask and she nods.
“He threw a party last minute. Boo’s here somewhere but probably has his tongue down some poor girl’s throat.” I laugh at that.
it must be nearly midnight in the UK. it’s almost 5 pm here. “I’m glad you called. did Devlin say anything.” I ask and she shake her head.
“who’s on the phone babe.” I reel back as Misha quickly turns the camara away from her.
“Misha. what did he mean by babe.” I yell down the line, but she doesn’t reply. the phone disconnects and I sigh.
I can’t be mad at her. or him. Devlin was Devlin. if Misha wanted to go down that rout with him, who am I to say otherwise. am I a little bit hurt? sure. but again, I don’t have reason to be.
I send her a quick text letting her know it’s fine and to carry on with whatever it is they are doing. she sends one back saying sorry and that she didn’t mean for things get out of hand between them.
I ask her if it happened before or after I left Three days ago and she confirms it was as recent as yesterday. I blow out a breath and make my way downstairs to ask mum about buying me some booze.
I’m not angry. Devlin was aloof, almost distant with me. so, if Misha makes him happy. I’m happy.
I knock on her office door. “Mum, you got a sec.” she hums, and I enter.
“what’s up.” she asks not looking at me.
“I’ve been invited to a party tomorrow night.” she looks up then.
“that’s wonderful. your fitting right in.” she beams sitting back in her chair.
“Yeah, I guess. the party is run by a group of students called the crew. we kind of have to bring an offering.” I explain and she folds her arms.
“An offering. what are we talking here. Are we talking cupcakes. lollypops. what.” she’s messing with me.
“God you’re annoying.” I tease. “We have to offer a bottle of booze.” I add running my socked toe on the carpet.
“I see. well, I guess I could buy you something. but all I ask is that you be responsible. the law to drink is 21 here. its 18 in the UK. you’re not far from that so I trust you.”
“Thanks mum. Harper is coming over tomorrow to help me get ready.” I reply as she smiles wider.
“I get to meet one of your friends. I’m so happy for you.” she gushes, and I roll my eyes.
“it’s not a big deal. but thanks again. nothing too flashy ok.” I give her a pointed look.
“Noted.” she salutes me, and I go back to my room.
The more I think about it, the more I’m excited to go. I’ve never been one for parties. but mum told me to let loose and have fun. that’s exactly what I plan to do.
Chapter 7
“You look so hot right now Harp.”
“Thanks. you look good. those jeans stick to you like a second skin.”
“Thanks. I don’t want to be cold, so I’m sticking with the sweater.”
my black jeans make my butt look cute. my grey sweater hangs off one shoulder and sits just under my belly button. just a small amount of skin can be seen.
Harper is in a little black dress, how she can stand the cool evening air is beyond me. she tells me a little alcohol will help keep her warm.
I’m not much of a drinker, Harper isn’t either. but Bass is already there and is halfway cut. we ordered an uber to take us, because even one drink is one too many.
“Do you have your offering.” she asks, and I hold up the 200 Doller bottle of limited addition vodka.
“I still can’t believe your mom got that.” she chuckles, and I shrug.
“Me and my mum have always been honest with each other. I’ve never done anything to cause her concern.” we walk to the front door and mum comes from the kitchen.
“You both look as cute as a button. let me take a pic.” Harper grins as we pose for the camara.
“Now go have fun. Call me if you need me.” she kisses my cheek and pats Harper on the arm.
“Bye Mrs. Grant, it was lovely to meet you.” Harper calls as mum shouts to call her Maria.
the ride is quick, but the walk to the forest is dark and eerie. the trees are thick for this time of the year. the ground is moist from recent rain, and I swear if I hear or see a creepy crawly, I will scream.
the closer we get the more the music seems to get louder. people are everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place filled with this many people.
“Your here.” Bass comes over to greet us and he wraps his arms around us both.
“If I was straight, I would do you both.” we both push him away as Harper yells eeewww.
“Come on. you need to make your offering.” his voice is slurred.
there’s a central fire that’s roaring away. people are dancing around it to the beat of the song. another three fires are close by but not as big.
there’s a small wooden house, it looks old, and the roof is sunken in, the paint peeling from the walls. there’s a porch where I spot Nico and his crew. you have to climb three steps to be able to offer them what you brought.
my nerves are shot to bits. I feel so out of my depth here. but Harper takes my hand, and we walk side by side to the bottom of the steps. we wait to be noticed.
“What do you offer.” blue hair speaks first but Nico holds up his hand to stop him.
“Come forward little mouse, show us what you got.” my palms are sweaty as I step up once, twice and then a third time.
Nico looks at me from head to toe. Nancy is scowling from his side. he licks his lips, and I bring the bottle into view. one of then whistles low. impressed. I hope.
after what feels like an age. Nico nods. my shoulders relax as I set the bottle down. “Bring it to me.” I snap my head up.
“What.” I ask confused.
“Nico. you can’t be serious.” Nancy whine from his side. he ignores her.
“I said bring it to me little mouse.” I try my hardest not to give him a shitty reply or bow like a moron.
I pick it back up and step closer to where he sits. his legs are spread wide. relaxed body. his hair is messy, but God, does it look good. his blue eyes watch me with curiosity.
the rest of the crew wait on bated breath. not one of them speaking or making a sound.
I hand him the bottle; our fingers touch and I feel the electricity shoot up my hand and into my arm. he must feel it too because he frowns and finally takes the bottle.
“You can go now. remember what I said.” Nancy breaks the staring competition we have going.
I honest to God, couldn’t get away from there fast enough. Harper passes me and puts down her bottle of jack. Nico nods at her and that’s that. we are free to party.
I swear when I turn my back to him, I can hear him tell Nancy to get lost. but maybe that’s because secretly I want him to do that.
Harper drags me to the fire, and we start to sway our hips to the beat of the music. I have no idea who the artist is but its good.
“That was intense.” I nod because she’s not wrong.
“Drinks for my special ladies.” Bass appears with two red solo cups, some fruity punch that’s so sweet when I taste it, I almost gag.
“What the hell is this.” I ask with a grimace.
“Who knows. a little bit of this, a little bit of that. good right.” he wiggles his brows, and we giggle.
after another hour we find ourselves sitting on a fallen tree trunk. Harper is telling me who is who. what girls to watch out for and what guys to stay away from. Tadd being the main contender.
“I have to pee.” I’m amazed I lasted this long to be honest, although I’m only on my second drink.
“You have to squat in the bush.”
“For real.” I ask with a shocked face.
“Yep. go that way. I’ll keep an eye out.” I accept her offer and head towards a group of trees.
I finish my pee and pull up my jeans. a twig snaps behind me, and I freeze. someone comes from the dark and I instantly want to run.
“Look who I found all on her own. it’s not safe to be alone.” Tadd comes closer and I step back.
“I’m heading back now. thanks for the concern.” I step back again, then realize he’s not alone.
I’m suddenly very aware how dangerous this situation is. “don’t be like that. let’s have some fun.” he looks me up and down.
I wonder what would happen if I ran. would he chase me, knock me down. would he hurt me. “No thanks. I’m good.” I reply as he smiles.
“It wasn’t a question. let’s party somewhere more secluded.” my arms are grabbed from both sides, and my stomach drops in my shoes.
I have to do something. but what?
Chapter 8
“let go of me. ouch. fuck. get off.” I try to pull away from the Two guys holding my arms.
Tadd steps closer to me. his smile is sinister. he looks damn right hideous right now. I wish I could fight, like you see them girls fight in the movies.
“Let her go.” another voice booms from behind me.
Tadd squints his eyes and then looks relived. “Yō cuss. come party with us. we were just about to go somewhere more private.”
he said Cuss. that means Nico is the one standing behind me. I don’t know if I’m relived or more frightened.
“And I said let her go.” his tone holds command and the two goons holding my arms let go.
“don’t be such a party pooper. I’ll let you have a turn when I’m done.” I gag and fight to keep the alcohol in my stomach.
“Like I need your sloppy seconds. no thanks… cuss.” he sounds pissed.
“Fine. you can go first but I want her ass.” that time I do gag.
Nico draws closer. I see him step into my line of sight and then he’s right in front of me. his back facing me. God damn he’s big. tall too.
“What do you want then. I can get you any pussy. just say the word.” Tadd sounds excited and I cringe.
“You think I need your help to get pussy. chicks fall at my feet because I ask them too, not because I have to drug them and force them.” ok so he just admitted to Tadd drugging girls right in front of me.
“don’t act so innocent. you do worse than me. go back to party and let me have this one.” why am I still standing her listening to this.
I turn and start to walk away. my arm is grabbed and when I see who’s hand it is. the electric current is back. he’s not hurting me, just being firm.
“Fuck off Tadd. you. “He looks at me then.
“you’re not going anywhere.” my legs start to shake. he’s so much bigger than me.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about.” Tadd rubs his hands together.
“I said fuck off. she’s mine.” I almost fall over when I lean back from his strong statement.
Tadd finally gets the message and grumbles before walking away.
“Thanks.” I whisper softly to which Nico scoffs.
“don’t thank me. show me your tits.” I’m so taken back by his words, I don’t react.
“What.” I ask him to repeat.
“I said show me your tits. it’s the least you can do.” I want to slap his gorgeous face.
“The least I could do. wow. I didn’t ask you to come to my rescue, I had it handled.” his face is blank.
“I’ll get him back for you then.” he starts to walk off and I stop him with my hand on his arm.
“No, don’t. just please ask me anything else. not that.” he looks down at me, then to my hand which I remove.
“I want to see your tits. show me or I’ll call him now and get him to finish what he started.”
“Why would you do that. what is wrong with you. fucking hell. all men are pigs.” I rip my top up and show him my bra.
“There. you happy now. get off on see my tits. you must be desperate.” I cry as he turns fully to face me.
“I want to see your tits, not your bra.” I drop my top. I’m angry now.
tears fall down my cheeks and he tilts his head to the side. I understand that a sociopath doesn’t have normal feelings, if they indeed have any feelings at all.
I unhook my bra and pull the straps out of my top, off my arms. I drop it to the floor and then slowly lift my sweater up to the top of my bare breasts.
“Higher.” he calls from where he stands. I do as he said lifting the top to my neck.
“Such pretty tits.” me musses. “Higher.” he commands, and I lift it over my face.
it’s so humiliating. but I can’t deny it’s also hot. I must me wacko in the head to be doing this. I flinch when I feel his warm palm rest on my left breast.
“So warm and soft.” he whispers, and I close my eyes.
I don’t hear anything for a few seconds, when I lower my top, he’s gone. it’s confusing yet I’m slightly aroused. what the fuck is wrong with me.
“There you are. I was looking for you.” Harper burps and stumbles over to me when I emerge from the trees.
“Are you ok. you look pale.” I don’t reply as my eyes wonder around the party.
I managed to get my bra back on and find my way back without falling. “I’m fine. I got a little lost.” I reply and she nods.
“let’s get another drink.” I shouldn’t but I refuse to let Tadd or Nico ruin my night.
we dance some more. Bass is nowhere to be seen. we drink another cup of fruity punch, and I finally get eyes on Nico. his eyes lock with mine and it sends a shiver down my spine.
“Harper. it’s time to go.” I called an uber 15 minutes ago. she’s very drunk and luckily, she told her parents she’s staying with me.
we stumble along the dirt path. the air is considerably colder now. Harper is mumbling about needing sleep. I stop when I hear whispered moaning. I can’t see very well but I think there’s people having sex by the tree.
when my eyes adjust. I almost fall backward. Bass is behind Dane. Dane is bent over with his jeans down to his ankles. Oh my god. bass wasn’t lying. he dominates Dane like a boss.
not wanting to be seen, I pull harper towards the drop off point and we wait for the car. thankfully we don’t wait too long before a small red car picks us up.
I run the night over and over again in my mind. Nico being the center of my thoughts. how he commanded me to show him my tits. how I did what I was told. God I’m an idiot.
I can still feel his warm palm on my skin. the way he whispered how soft and warm I was. my nipples were like bullets. I shake my head to rip myself of those silly thoughts.
finally, home, mum helps me to get Harper into bed. I have her sleep with me, so I can keep an eye on her.
Chapter 9
Today I get to drive myself to school for the first time. I’m nervous as hell, but excited. Harper talked me through a quick meltdown at 7am, then I put on my big girl panties and got in the car.
I haven’t had any more run ins with Nico or Tadd since the weekend, which I’m very grateful for. both men are equally intimidating.
“she’s a beauty. you lucky bitch.” Harper meets me as I climb from the car.
“Thanks. it was a shock when mum handed me the keys.” I half mumble feeling exposed.
“You should park on millionaires’ row. this car turns heads.” she continues as we start to walk.
“I think not. it’s fine where it is.” I reply as we enter school.
the morning is like any other. no drama, no fuss. we get handed assignments for English and luckily for me, Harper is my partner. we have lunch with Bass and then I head for the changing rooms.
Runing track after lunch should be illegal. I almost puke several times. Bass finds it hilarious. the football team are practicing, but I don’t see Nico thank God.
once we finish volleyball, my team won. we head for the showers, and I wait patiently for a shower to become available. there’s only 6 stalls and most girls don’t shower. gross.
once I get my turn, I strip off, hang my towel and step under the hot water. it feels great on my sweaty skin. the room grows quieter as more girls leave.
The shower curtain is ripped open, and I spin around almost slipping on the wet floor. Nico stands there, fully naked, his bright blue eyes walking up my body.
“What the hell. get out. you can’t be here.” I try desperately to cover my exposed parts.
he steps closer, the heat from his body seeps into my skin. I step back the cold wall stopping me from retreating any further.
“This is so wrong. I’m begging you. please get out. leave Nico. you can’t do this.” I plead.
“shhh. quiet mouse.” he leans in so close, his hands slapping either side of my head on the wall.
“Just let me be here.” what the fuck, his voice is almost a whisper.
“Why. I’m naked Nico. your…” I look down his impressive body.
his muscles are ripped, tight. his waist is slim, his thighs bulging. ne has no tattoos that I can see. but his skin is golden, and he smells fantastic.
“Your naked, and your….” dear lord, he’s hard.
his cock is long and thick, standing up like a proud beckon. why is he hard? he has no emotion on his face. his eyes give nothing away.
I’ve noticed a few times, he can go from deep in thought, angry, playful. he can be intense and all consuming. it’s like there are 5 shades to his personality.
“This is what you do to me.” I presume he means the erection.
“This is what I am, all day. whenever your around.” he adds quietly.
his blue eyes lock with mine. he’s so intense. he intimidates me. but for some reason I’m not scared. I’m turned on and it’s so damn wrong.
“I haven’t done anything. we don’t talk; we don’t see each other often. why is that my fault.” I ask quietly, the shower still pelting water down on us.
“You don’t have to do anything. I know you exist.” his nostrils flare, the first sign I’ve seen that he’s effected by me.
“So why not just talk to me. get to know me. you want to be friends. fine. but this.” I wave my hand between us.
“This is not cool Nico.” I add as he lowers his head slightly.
“I don’t want to be your friend. I want more than that. but I can’t have you. I can’t offer you anything other than my cock.” wow, he’s so blunt.
“Then you need to leave, because I’m not letting that thing anywhere near me. not now, or in the future. I’m not one of your groupies. I’m not some pathetic girl who will bow to your feet. you want me. really want me. earn it.”
his face remains cold and unfeeling. I truly believe he has no emotion. he can’t decide what the hell he feels, or how the hell to show it.
I don’t wait for his reply as I brush past him and leave the shower. my nipples press briefly against his arm, and I swear I hear him suck in a breath.
I’m not some sex crazed chick out to find the nearest dick to ride. I know my worth and its more than whatever the hell that was. he has no right to treat me that way
I dry myself quickly and get dressed. when I finally leave the locker room, Nancy and Val are waiting nearby. what for I have no idea. but what doesn’t help, is 10 second later Nico walks out the same door.
Nancy looks at me with utter contempt and I groan under my breath. “I warned you.” she hisses grabbing my arm as I pass.
“You did. now warn him too. I want no part of your fucked up crew.” I yank my arm from her grip and walk away.
“What the fuck Nico. her, really.” that’s the last thing I hear when I let the door shut behind me.
I climb in my car and leave the lot like my tires are on fire. Harper sends me a text soon after offering to come by with food. I send one back saying yes.
thank God tomorrow is Friday. harper, Bass and I are planning to go to the movies. mum has been working hard all week, and I’ve hardly seen her.
Misha called me Two days ago and said her and Devlin are officially together. I’m happy for them, truly. Boo is still just Boo which makes me smile. not much changes with him.
once Harper arrives, I fill her in on all things Nico which she squeals at. she thinks he’s into me big time. said we could be the next great power couple. I said he just wants to have power over me.
I finally fall into bed at 10, my mind running a thousand miles a minute. do I like Nico? I couldn’t. he’s arrogant and a sociopath. he’s intense and rude. but my god does my body crave him.
Chapter 10
I wake with a start. my dreams are becoming more and more vivid. those blue eyes are all I can think about. that damn blonde messy hair. what does it mean?
I almost shriek when I see a silhouette of a man sitting on the inside of my open window. fucking Nico. what the hell is he doing here and how did he get in.
“You move a lot when you sleep.” that’s what he starts with.
“Why are you here. how did you get in.” I ask sitting up.
sure, I have a tree outside, but I swear I closed my window earlier.
“We didn’t finish our conversation earlier.” he speaks quietly.
“Yes, we did. now you need to leave.” I hiss back.
“No.” who does he think he is.
“No.” I repeat.
“No. I want to be here.” I look around the room like it holds all the answers.
“You don’t get to decide that Nico. this is my room.” I flap my hands as I talk.
he stands up and starts to walk around my room. his hand runs along my dresser. his fingers gliding softly along the wood. he stops at the end of my bed, his hand by his sides.
“I just want to see you. I want to feel you. I need to…” he stops himself, his right knee lifting to kneel on the bed.
“What are you doing.” I ask in a panic.
“Nico. stop. this isn’t funny anymore. you need to leave.” but he doesn’t listen.
he crawls closer to me; my body stuck to afraid to move. I should get up and run. I should call for mum, but I don’t. why can’t I call for help?
“Let me, lay with you.” he whispers as his body comes closer.
“Let me watch you sleep. chase away the bad dreams.” he’s almost over me now. my body leaning back, resting on the headboard.
“Let me keep you safe.” I’m so utterly confused right now.
“Why. why do you need this. Nico…” I don’t say anymore because he places a finger on my lips to keep me quiet.
“Shh. no more talking. sleep little mouse.” he leans back on his heels and pulls on my legs until I’m flat on my back.
he lays down beside me. his back flat on the bed, his arms folded under his head. I’m so scared I don’t dare move. but another part of me is excited he is here.
I fall asleep with this strange rude man lying beside me. he breathes deeply as he settles at my side. if mum comes in right now, she will throw a fit.
when I open my eyes the next morning, he’s gone. no sign he was even here. it’s the strangest feeling in the world. but oddly I slept like a baby.
I shower and dress for the day. my body feels light and for some odd reason I want to see Nico. not because I like him or anything, it’s more to do with needing answers.
I find him in the hall close to the reception when I arrive. Harper is sick today so I’m hoping Bass will be about for lunch later. I walk with my head held high, Nancy spotting me first.
“What do you want.” she crosses her arms and scowls at me.
“Hey. I need to speak with you.” I look away from the jealous cow and lock eyes with Nico.
“I’m listening.” oh for the love of God.
“Not here. outside, now.” Nancy laughs at my comment.
“Bitch your Delu lu, if you think Nico will follow you on a command.”
I don’t break eye contact. I’m not backing down or walking away without speaking to him. but I will let everyone know he spent the night in my bed if I have too.
“Either you follow me, or I say my piece here, in front of them.” after a brief pause, he nods once, and I turn to walk out of the main door.
“Nico. what the fuck.” Nancy yells when I realize he’s right behind me.
Nico. you can’t be serious.” she cries louder. it’s embarrassing.
“Nico.” she screams like a banshee.
“Nico.” her final call is shut off when the door closes.
I stop and spin to face him. he stops at the end of the building, leaning on the wall, one leg propped up.
“What the hell was last night about. you own me a fucking explanation.” why am I shouting?
“What you did last night was not ok. are you a sociopath. like for real. have you been diagnosed. I’ve heard rumors, but I never really cared. but last night. dear god.”
I realize he hasn’t said a word, and he is now smirking at me. the arrogant. beautiful prick is smirking at me.
“You, done little mouse.” his tone sounds bored.
“Am I done. am I fucking done. Nico. please. help me out here.” I plead.
“So much has happened between us. yet I still feel at a loss. what do you want from me.” I ask with my hands on my hips.
he studies me for a few minutes. I can see the indecision whirling in his eyes. his hands are in his pockets, and he’s totally relaxed.
after a slight nod with his head, he pushes off the wall and comes closer to me. he smells of fresh baked cinnamon rolls, tobacco and mint. its messing with my head.
“I want everything and nothing. no, I haven’t been diagnosed as a sociopath. I’m not crazy. I’m just me.” I wait for him to continue.
“I’m not a good man. I do unspeakable things, I fight, smoke and race bikes illegally. I fuck who I want when I want. I live by my own rules.” he steps closer.
“I wanted to see you, so I did.” he crowds me against the wall.
“I wanted to touch you, so I did.” I frown in confusion.
“that’s right little mouse. I touched your soft skin when you were asleep. your beautiful when you dream.” his face is so close to mine.
if he leans in another inch his lips will be on mine. his breath fans across my face on a soft whisper. I don’t know whether to be disgusted or turned on.
“You calm the voices in my head. you drown out all the rage that runs through my veins. I just…” he pauses.
“I just wanted to be close to you.” his lips slide across my cheek, his nose skimming up my neck.
my body shivers like winter, has taken residence in my soul. his fingers play with the ends of my hair. his eyes shimmer in the morning light, like diamonds in a pond.
I don’t know how to react, how to reply. I don’t move in fear of breaking the spell. Nico is an enigma. I know I should stay away, push him away. but I don’t, I can’t.
