Summary

” I will come back, my soul will haunt them and drag each one of them to hell.” They raped me, stabbed me and then buried me alive. They thought that this will be the end, but little do they know that death only made me stronger than before. I will come back for them, I will haunt them and drag them to the hellfire.

PROLOGUE

The night was utterly starless, as if the heavens themselves had abandoned the earth. A cold, moonless silence draped the world in suffocating obscurity. The air was sharp, damp, and heavyโ€”each breath felt like swallowing shards of glass. A restless wind slithered between the crooked trees, bending them into grotesque silhouettes against the void.

Darkness spread across the land like ink spilled upon parchment, swallowing the hills, the crumbling fences, and even the road that led toward the cemetery. No lantern glowed, no beast stirred, no human dared step outside at such an hour. For midnight was not merely a time, but a thresholdโ€”the moment when the veil between the living and the dead grew perilously thin.

It was said in whispers passed through generations: at midnight, the most obscure creatures rose from their graves to haunt the realm of men. Only the fearlessโ€”or the cursedโ€”ever roamed beyond their doors at such a time.

Professor David was one of them.

His house stood a mere few miles from the old graveyard, a modest and weather-worn dwelling whose very walls seemed to hold secrets. Night after night, when the darkness pressed most heavily and the stillness grew too profound, he felt itโ€”a pull. Not the gentle pull of curiosity, but an irresistible summoning, tugging at his very soul. It forced him to leave the warmth of his hearth, to abandon the comfort of his bed, and to step willingly into the arms of midnight.

For Professor David was no ordinary man. Since the hour of his birth, he had been marked by something ancient, something that bound him to the realm of shadows. He was a ghost whispererโ€”a mortal endowed with the gift, or perhaps the curse, of communion with the dead.

The cemetery loomed ahead, shrouded in mist that slithered across the ground like pale serpents. Weathered headstones jutted from the earth like jagged teeth, their inscriptions eroded by decades of wind and rain. The air was pungent with the smell of damp soil and forgotten decay.

As he crossed the rusted iron gates, a shudder seized his body. It was a familiar sensation, one he had come to know well: a cold thrill, half dread, half delight, that raced down his spine and seeped into his bones. To most men, such a feeling would ignite terror. But David embraced it. This chill was the herald of his purpose.

He smiled faintly, biting the corner of his lip, his brow lifting with the knowledge of what lingered just behind him. He did not need to turn to know a presence was there, watching him with eyes that pierced the void.

Slowly, deliberately, he pivoted.

She emerged from the shadows not with footsteps, but with distortion, as though the night itself had split open to reveal her. A young girl, no older than sixteen in appearance, materialized before himโ€”fragile, flickering, almost translucent. Her form seemed caught between existence and dissolution.

Her hairโ€”dark chocolate with a red sheenโ€”spilled untamed across her face, concealing one eye and most of her forehead. Only her pale nose and trembling lips were visible. Yet through the curtain of hair burned her eyes: two cold-crimson flames, brighter than lanterns in the fog. Across her forehead, a streak of blood marred her otherwise youthful features, a wound frozen in time.

In the blink of an eye, she vanishedโ€”dissolving into mistโ€”and then reappeared directly before him. The air trembled around her as she opened her mouth. From her throat burst a scream so shrill, so piercing, it seemed to split the night in two. The cry wove with the wind, rattled the old iron gates, and stirred the dead leaves that carpeted the ground. It was a sound not of life, but of grief eternal.

Yes. She was a ghost.

โ€œHello, Professor,โ€ she hissed, her voice both childlike and ancient, dripping with despair.

David did not flinch. He bowed his head slightly, as though in greeting to a queen. โ€œHello, Elina,โ€ he replied softly. โ€œTonight, I bring you good news. At last, you may leave this mortal realm. You will finally be at peace.โ€

From the folds of his long coat, he withdrew a worn newspaper. The pages crinkled in the wind as he read aloud:

โ€œFound guilty and arrested for the accident of Elina Lewis.โ€

The girlโ€™s crimson eyes wavered, softening at the edges. For years they had blazed with rage, but now something else flickered thereโ€”relief, perhaps even release.

Three years ago, Elina Lewis had been returning from a party with her best friend, Sarah. They had been laughing, singing, unaware of the fate that awaited them on the winding road home. The headlights of a drunk driver had torn through their joy. The collision had been brutal, merciless. Sarah had fallen into a coma. Elina had died instantly, her young body broken, her spirit torn from its place in the world.

She had been too young. Too innocent. Too unprepared to meet death. And so her soul lingered, shackled to her grief and fury.

Not all who perished were granted the chance to remain in the mortal realm. Only those chosen by Nyx, goddess of night, could linger to finish what had been left undone. Such souls carried vengeance in their very essence. They could not rest until their culprits paid. Yet with every year they remained, they withered. Their humanity eroded, their mercy rotted, until only rage remained.

Thanatos, god of death, confined them to the boundaries of their burial grounds, lest their wrath consume the living. And to keep balance, Gaea, goddess of the earth, created ghost whispersโ€”mortals who could see, hear, and command spirits. They could grant peace, or bind souls, or, if corrupted, unleash horrors upon mankind.

Professor David had never once defied Gaeaโ€™s laws. He knew the cost of meddling. Ghosts were not pets nor servantsโ€”they were storms of grief and fury. To abuse such power was to court the wrath of Hades himself. And Hades was not merciful.

Elinaโ€™s faint form wavered, her body glowing as though lit from within. Her crimson eyes shimmered, their fire dimming to embers. A fragile smile touched her lips.

โ€œThank you, Professor,โ€ she whispered.

Then, in a soft burst of silver light, she dissolved. The mist swallowed her, leaving behind nothing but the faint imprint of her feet upon the soil. Her spirit had gone at last, slipping into the unseen world beyond, where rest awaited her.

Professor David remained still for a moment, the silence of the graveyard pressing around him. Then he exhaled, the weight of her release lifting from his shoulders.

One more soul at peace.

Turning, he pulled his coat tighter and walked back through the graveyard gates. His old black boots crunched upon the frost-kissed ground as he set his course toward the faint glow of his home in the distance. Behind those warm lights, his beloved daughter Lisa would be waiting, no doubt growing impatient with her fatherโ€™s late-night wanderings.

David smiled faintly. He had no fear of the darkness. Midnight would come again, and with it, another restless soul would call his name.

For that was his fate.

He was the ghost whisperer.

Chapter 1

pov Lisa

The sun rose like a blossom unfurling, spilling its petals of light across the world. The golden glow streamed through the curtains of our small house, flooding the living room with warmth. Yet warmth was the last thing I felt. My chest was tight with irritation, my thoughts tangled with disappointment.๏ปฟ

Father still hadnโ€™t returned.

It was always the sameโ€”long nights of waiting, endless hours of worrying, and then silence. No explanation. No reason. Just absence. The kind that gnawed at me until anger felt easier than sadness. Since Motherโ€™s death, he had grown more distant, buried in mysteries he refused to share. I had lost one parent already; now I felt like I was losing the other too, one secretive night at a time.

He thought his excuses were clever. With the ghosts, he would say, as if that were enough to soothe me. As if ghosts were even real. Sometimes I wondered if he actually believed his own stories.

Standing in the middle of the living room, I twisted a strand of my long, poker-straight black hair around my finger, my eyes fixed on the clock above the mantle. Each tick made my blood simmer hotter. Since August 4th, 2016โ€”the day of my motherโ€™s cremationโ€”it had become my routine to wait. Always waiting.

Waiting sounded easy. But waiting is a prison. A cage where time slows, every second dragging like an anchor.

I paced the room, my footsteps soft against the worn carpet, my mind racing with a hundred ugly thoughts. Just when my frustration boiled to the point where I wanted to scream, the front door flung open with a creak that made my heart stutter.

He was back.

Father stepped inside, brushing off the morning chill as if nothing were wrong. My relief was quickly devoured by fury.

โ€œWhere were you this time?โ€ My words came sharp, like daggers.

โ€œOh, good morning, darling,โ€ he said lightly, loosening his coat. โ€œWith ghosts.โ€

The words sliced through me. He said it so casually, as though my worry were a joke. Rage coiled in my veins, hot and unforgiving, burning away what little patience I had left.

โ€œGhosts,โ€ I repeated under my breath. As if that explained anything. As if I were a child too young to see through his lies.

The pressure of anger in my chest was unbearable. One more second in that room, and I would have erupted into words I could never take back. Instead, I shot him a glare sharp enough to wound, turned on my heel, and stormed toward the door. I slammed it behind me so hard the frame rattled.

I didnโ€™t kiss him goodbye. I didnโ€™t even look back.

His voice followed meโ€”calling, pleadingโ€”but I was too furious to respond.

The twenty-minute walk to college did little to cool me down. My anger clung to me like smoke, seeping into my thoughts, poisoning everything with bitterness. I wanted to be calm, but my mind replayed his face, his careless words, over and over. By the time I stepped onto campus, my mood was still black as tar.

Then I heard itโ€”my name, called out in a voice that never failed to stir something warm inside me. Low, husky, and playful, it was a voice I could never mistake.

โ€œLisa!โ€

I turned, and there he wasโ€”Troy. My boyfriend. My escape.

He jogged toward me, his lean frame carrying itself with effortless confidence. The morning sunlight caught in his tousled hair, and when his emerald-green eyes landed on mine, the anger in me faltered. He leaned in, his lips brushing mine with a tender kiss that left my cheeks hot.

โ€œHello, love,โ€ he murmured.

โ€œHi,โ€ I replied softly, though my voice still carried the weight of my foul mood.

โ€œIs my baby girl alright?โ€ he teased, raising an eyebrow in mock concern.

โ€œNo,โ€ I grumbled, folding my arms.

He grinned, that infuriatingly charming grin. โ€œThen let me fix it.โ€ His eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned closer. โ€œCome tonight. Party at my place. I promise you the most unforgettable night of your life.โ€

The way he said it, with that playful smirk and confidence, made my heart skip. Temptation flared bright. But behind it, hesitation crept in like a shadow.

Father.

Strict, overprotective, controlling father. For all his nightly absences, he never once allowed me to attend a party after dark. And in one week, I would turn seventeenโ€”yet still, he treated me like a child locked in a cage.

I opened my mouth to refuse Troy, to tell him I couldnโ€™t risk it. But then I remembered the morning. The lie. The smirk when he said ghosts. The way he made me feel foolish for worrying.

Revenge bloomed sweet and sharp in my chest.

โ€œSure,โ€ I said at last, a sly smile tugging at my lips. โ€œBut Iโ€™ll only come at midnight. Not earlier.โ€

Troyโ€™s grin widened. โ€œMidnight, huh? Sounds perfect. Iโ€™ll come pick you up.โ€

โ€œFine then. See you tonight,โ€ I said.

He kissed my forehead before leaving, humming like a boy whoโ€™d just won a prize.

I should have felt guilty. But I didnโ€™t. Not even a little. Disobeying Father wasnโ€™t rebellionโ€”it was a lesson. Let him worry, let him wait, let him feel what I felt. People never realize how much they can wound someone until the pain is returned to them.

I was still lost in my thoughts when a hand landed on my shoulder, startling me.

โ€œHey, bitch!โ€

I turned to see herโ€”Amanda.

Her golden hair tumbled in perfect curls around her shoulders, her emerald-green eyes gleamed, and her teeth were white enough to belong in a toothpaste commercial. Amanda was the kind of girl people compared to a living Barbie. She was also my childhood friend, though her sass often made me wonder why I put up with her.

โ€œHey,โ€ I said with a weak smile.

โ€œWere you daydreaming again?โ€ she asked, raising an eyebrow.

โ€œOh, I was just imagining my dadโ€™s face when he finds out I disobeyed him,โ€ I admitted with a mischievous grin.

Amandaโ€™s eyes narrowed. โ€œWhat are you plotting, Lisa?โ€

โ€œTo go to Troyโ€™s party tonight,โ€ I said without hesitation.

Her perfect Barbie-doll face soured. โ€œListen, itโ€™s not like I hate Troy. But youโ€™ve only been dating him a few months. You donโ€™t even know him properly. And who the hell starts a party at midnight?โ€

โ€œTo get even with my father,โ€ I shot back, my voice sharper than I intended.

Amanda huffed, crossing her arms. โ€œThen why not just come to my place instead? You know Iโ€™d rather have you safe with me thanโ€”โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ I cut her off. โ€œIโ€™ll be fine with Troy. I trust him.โ€

She opened her mouth, ready to argue, but just then the bell rang, announcing the start of classes. Saved.

I leaned forward and kissed her cheek quickly before darting away, my bag bouncing against my shoulder.

Relief swept through me. I loved Amanda, but sometimes her protective streak turned her from Barbie into something more like Chucky.

And I had no patience for warnings. Not today.

chapter 2

P.O.V โ€“ LISA

11:30 P.M.

I had been staring at the clock all night, watching its hands crawl closer to midnight. My father thought I was asleep, but here I wasโ€”dressed up like a liar in a reddish dress that brushed just below my knees. The fabric was soft, silky, whispering across my skin whenever I shifted my legs. Matching red heels completed the look. I kept my makeup light, but I tied my hair neatly into a ponytail, as if being tidy could wash away the guilt sitting heavy on my chest.

Not guilt for deceiving my father. I had long learned how to keep secrets from him. Noโ€”the guilt came from ignoring Amanda. She must have called me twenty times, and each time I declined without even reading her messages. Neither she nor my father had heard a word from me since our fight that morning. It made me feel hollow, as though a part of me was betraying everyone I should have cared about.

When the horologe struck twelve, the sound cut sharp through the silence. Almost on cue, I heard the front gate open and close. My father, playing the mysterious man again. I knew his routines well enough; he had his secrets, and I had mine. That meant Troy wouldnโ€™t be far.

I slipped out of the house and waited. A few minutes later, a pair of headlights carved through the darkness and bathed me in blinding white. Troy didnโ€™t even bother to step out and greet me. He simply let the car idle, his face hidden behind the glass. That should have been my first warning, but I silenced the thought and opened the door.

I slid into the front seat. He didnโ€™t speak. He just staredโ€”eyes dragging over me from head to toe, studying every inch of my body. The weight of his gaze made my skin itch.

โ€œUmmโ€ฆ hi, Troy,โ€ I tried, my voice trembling more than I wanted it to.

Nothing. His face remained carved from stone. No smile, no warmth, not even the pretense of affection. Only those eyes, gleaming with something I couldnโ€™t name, something that unsettled me deeply. Then, with a flick of his hand, he started the engine.

As if to mirror his mood, the weather shifted. A crack of thunder ripped the sky apart. Lightning zig-zagged madly above us, painting the night in harsh white veins. Rain followed, pouring heavy and relentless, drumming against the car roof in wild rhythm. My stomach twisted. My throat closed up as if I might vomit.

I didnโ€™t want to go anymore. I wanted to run back into the safety of my bed. But it was too lateโ€”the car was already moving, carrying me toward a place I suddenly feared.

The storm grew stranger with each mile. Every time I turned my head to look back, the sky behind us seemed calm, untouched. But above usโ€”above meโ€”lightning cracked again and again, as though it were hunting us, following our path with unrelenting rage. My heart thundered in my chest. Was I imagining things? Was this some cruel warning from the universe?

The car lurched to a stop. I snapped forward in my seat. We had reached his house.

Only, it wasnโ€™t what I expected. Even though I had never been to a party, I knew what one should sound like. Music. Voices. Laughter. Chaos. But Troyโ€™s mansion was draped in silence. No lights blazed from the windows. No sound carried into the night. The place stood still and waiting, like something dangerous crouched inside.

โ€œTroyโ€ฆ why is it so quiet?โ€ I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry,โ€ he said flatly, turning to me with a half-smile that felt wrong. โ€œTrust me.โ€

He parked in the garage, and I followed him through the door that led straight inside. Every step made my instincts scream to turn back. My heart whispered, trust him, itโ€™s Troy, while my gut begged me to run. I chose my heart. Was that brave? Or just foolish? I didnโ€™t know.

The first thing I saw inside were three men. Strangers. Drunk. Their faces turned toward me like vultures spotting prey.

I froze.

Troy must have seen the panic flickering across my face, because he slipped his hand around my waist. His grip, meant to calm me, only made my skin crawl. His hand began sliding lowerโ€”down my hip, toward my buttocks. Fury sparked through me. Without a word, I caught his hand and shoved it off, masking my disgust with a polite gesture.

Amanda had been right. I didnโ€™t know him. Not really.

He smiled at me like nothing had happened. Then he gestured toward the men, introducing them one by one.

โ€œThis is Adam.โ€

The first man stumbled forward. Tall, pale, acne scarred his face. His breath reeked of alcohol. Before I could move, he grabbed my hand and pressed his lips to it. The bile rose in my throat. My skin burned where his mouth had touched me. And when I looked at Troy, expecting him to push his friend away, I saw only his grin. That grin shattered something inside me.

The second, Fabrice, looked almost harmless. Short, with an immense belly, small eyes set into an oval face. He greeted me politely, trying to appear respectful. But I didnโ€™t buy it. There was something lurking behind his gaze, something vile he thought I couldnโ€™t see. I didnโ€™t even bother to return his hello. He wasnโ€™t worth my voice. None of them were. Not even Troy.

โ€œAnd this is Christian,โ€ Troy continued.

The third man loomed forward. Tall, black, muscles bulging beneath a T-shirt, tattoos crawling up his arms and neck like inked chains. He didnโ€™t hesitate. He grabbed my waist with a firm hand and kissed me on the cheek as though I belonged to him. I froze, humiliated, disgusted.

My blood boiled. My nails dug into my palms. And then I heard itโ€”Troyโ€™s laughter. Not outrage, not defense, not protection. Laughter.

That was the moment I vowed it would end tonight. After this, Troy and I were over. Forever.

โ€œNow itโ€™s time to party!โ€ Troy announced, his voice unnaturally cheerful.

He swaggered into the kitchen and returned with a bottle of liquor. He poured it into a glass and shoved it toward me. When I refused, his fingers dug into my jaw, forcing my mouth open.

โ€œDrink.โ€

Rage flared through me. โ€œNO! I DONโ€™T WANT YOUR BLOODY ALCOHOL!โ€ I shoved him away, my voice cracking like the thunder outside.

โ€œLisa! Youโ€™re embarrassing me!โ€ His voice rose, sharp and cruel. โ€œNow drink.โ€ He jabbed his finger in my face, eyes blazing with humiliation.

Before I could think, my palm connected with his cheek. The crack of the slap echoed through the room. His skin reddened, and my hand stung, but I didnโ€™t regret it.

โ€œI HAVE HAD ENOUGH. Iโ€™M GOING HOME!โ€

I spun toward the door, heart pounding with adrenaline. But before I could take two steps, a brutal force slammed across the back of my head. I stumbled forward, dizzy, and whirled to face him.

Troy. My boyfriend. My betrayer. His hand still raised, eyes alight with something monstrous.

โ€œHow dare you,โ€ I gasped, my voice breaking.

His lips curled into a sneer. โ€œYou slapped me. You shamed me. Now itโ€™s your turn to get played with.โ€

He seized my wrists, twisting them so hard I thought they might snap, and flung me onto the sofa. My breath left my lungs in a painful rush. My body wouldnโ€™t move. I was paralyzed between terror and disbelief, staring at him with wide, horrified eyes.

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€ My voice was a trembling whisper.

His eyes glistened with cruelty. He didnโ€™t answer with words. He simply looked at me, then turned to the others.

โ€œBoys,โ€ he growled, his voice low and feral. โ€œLetโ€™s have some fun with this pure lady over here.โ€

chapter 3

P.O. V LISA

Sweat and throbbing drench my skin, the surrounding laughter of the boys vibrated in my eardrums, and the flutter of my heart against my chest made me even more miserable. I got up from the settee and examined the living room for an escape plan; my evil boyfriend stood in front of the main door which eliminated my main escape way. I spun around myself to detect a backup path when my eyes met a chamberโ€™s opened door just in face of me. I sprinted to reach the bedroom but end up collapsing and slumped down. Cursing myself for wearing heels, I struggled to get up on my feet, when that pimpled face, Adam, grasped me and pinned me down on the floor. I screamed at the top of my voice, kicking and slapping him.

Troy approached me, lay down on the floor, rubbed my pale cheeks, and put my hair behind my ears. โ€œWhere were you going love?โ€ he whispered. โ€œTrying to escape? Forget about it, even God cannot save you from meโ€ he proceeded with his maniac laughter. He sounded like the son of the devil.

โ€œPlease leave me! Let me go,โ€ I beseeched.

Troy put a finger on his lips as if determining whether to release me or not. He kept on making his outrageous act before finally opened his mouth to announce his decision.

โ€œBeg me to let you go,โ€ he answered

โ€œPlease Troy, let me go!โ€ I pleaded with tears

โ€œFine! Adam get off her!โ€ he instructed.

Adam gazed at Troy with bewilderment and disappointment then obeyed like a pup. Both relieved and gratified, I got up from the floor However, my freedom expired just after one step taken. The devil grabbed my hands again.

โ€œWhere are you going again, Love? Now you are hurting me because you always try to leave me behind.โ€ he teased

โ€œYou just agree to let me go,โ€ I burst

โ€œNo love, I told Adam to leave you because you are my girl, I need to rape you first right?โ€ he smirked.

โ€œNo! Please, I implore youโ€ I kneeled over my knees in front of his leg.

He kicked me and leaned over my body, his three monstrous friends came to help him by seizing my hands and feet. Unable to move, I heard the tearing of fabrics and I stared with horror at Troy. He threw away my tore red dress. Naked and defenceless, I prayed for a miracle to take place.

โ€œTroy…โ€ I was about to solicit him further, but he pressed his hands over my mouth and plunged inside me with force. Tore, ripped and bleeding, I closed my eyes and opened it several times, hoping that this was just a nightmare but it was the mere dark reality. I was in agony, screaming and pleading all the time but nobody heard me, nobody saved me. Once his lust satisfied, he gestured to Christian to free my right arm, I thought the nightmare was over but I was dead wrong. The worst was yet to come. His gesture only meant that it was now the turn of Christian to abuse me. They raped me one after another, did everything they wanted to do with me along with their insults. The torture ended after one long hour, they freed my hands and feet, but their fingersโ€™ marked, stamped on my body. I wanted to run away again, but I was so torn inside that walking was impossible. I dragged myself on the floor to flee away. Seeing my pain, they laughed even more. My agony enjoyed them.

โ€œLisa baby! You want to leave again?โ€ the devil asked by grabbing my hands again.

โ€œI want to go home,โ€ I pleaded

โ€œHow can I let you go? I have a career you know, letting you go will wreck everything,โ€

โ€œWhat? No please, I will not say a word to anyone,โ€ I tried to persuade him

He pushed a sign, stepped closer with a small dagger in his hand; its bland looks like the sharpest knife. I shook like a leaf on the ground; I was so petrified that I peed on the floor. He hugged me and murmured into my ears, โ€œGoodbye loveโ€, and then his knife met my flesh, soft, plump, and made a satisfying squish as the blade plunged deep enough to make my face changed colour from pale to crimson. He wrenched the blade in his hands and sinking it deeper and deeper each time. My skin tore furthermore, as the knife rotated, the sound of my tissues and nerves being pierced amused him and excited him to stab me even more until I fell down on the floor.

Blood split from my body, nevertheless, I was still alive when I heard Troy ordering his friends to carry me into his car. I was too weak to resist, too miserable, and the game was over, anyway; I lost while the evils won. Unable to open my eyes, I heard the vroomed sound of an engine. They were driving me somewhere; I managed to semi-open my eyes, but obscurity prevented me from identifying where I was, maybe they threw me inside the trunk. They stopped a few miles away, someone opened the trunk, yanked me out and dragged me on the highway to an unknown destination. During the way, things were scratching my skins, maybe branches or thrones. Being conscious and unable to react or to see things were far worse than death.

โ€œAdam, gouge out a hole, large enough to entomb her.โ€ I listened to the voice of the ones that once meant the world to me.

Thatโ€™s their plan, to bury me alive after using me like a piece of meat. The sound of the shovel while digging the soil pierced through my ears like the echo of death. Today would be my end, deceived by my loved one. Would I ever get justice? Did I deserve this kind of death? It did not take longer than five minutes when a huge arm like those of Christian lifted me up and flung me into a hole which I assumed was my grave.

โ€œAdieu bitchโ€. Said Christian, he spat his saliva on me and I was unable to defend myself.

Soil covered my body, darkness invaded me, my breath ebbed and my heart gradually stopped pumping blood. I died with unfinished business; by neither getting justice nor having the chance to apologise to both my father and Amanda. Goodbye barbarous world.

chapter 4

P.O. V professor David.

Darkness overshadowed the morning sky, the sun hid behind the greyness clouds without granting us even its slight rays. The weather clearly indicated heavy rainfall during the day. On my way home, after performing my duty towards death, the only mission for the day was to make peace with Lisa.

โ€œI will devote the entire day with my daughter,โ€ I mumbled to myself.

I felt like an armoured armadillo retracting into its shell as I got inside my warm little house. The burdens of the world disappeared; this is the only place where I can permit myself to be a normal human being and not a ghost whispers. To anyone else, this is just a small and wretched house, but for me it is holiness, it is soothing; it is rest. However, something was unusual; my little angry bird was not in the living room, frowning her forehead towards me. Was she still mad at me!?

โ€œLisa!โ€ I shouted.

Nobody responded. The only sound in the house apart from mine was the buzzing of mosquitoes. Itโ€™s as if talking with my walls and lingering for an answer. Lisa can be really stubborn when she wanted, nevertheless, ignoring me was not her behaviour.

โ€œLisa, darling where are you?โ€ I kept on screaming.

She was nowhere to be found. I checked everywhere; in her room, bathroom and every corner of the house. The quelling of the house turned my blood cold. The bad thoughts looped around in my mind until there was no room for anything else. Where can she be? Did she leave for college? I called on her mobile phone but the irritating woman kept on saying that her phone was unreachable.

Staying there and kept on worrying about Lisa was a waste of time. I needed to act on the spot. Maybe she left earlier for college, I rushed through the door to go verifying if my supposition was right or not. Deep inside my soul, I knew I was wrong because even in the most outrageous rage; she would wait for me before leaving. The rusted gate made a shrilled noise as I closed it behind me.

โ€œMr Davidโ€ A femaleโ€™s voice called behind me.

Irritated as hell, I spun to see who it was. Chatting was the last thing I wished for; all that I wanted was to find my daughter. The little girl behind me was both breathless and reckless. Her apparition here was not that bad after all because she was Lisa best friend maybe she knew something. I could see her panic, her eyes were full of guilt and shamed. She definitely knew something.

โ€œAmanda! Do you know where Lisa is?โ€ I urged.

Unable to face me, she bent down her head. She crossed her arms while her neck became red. Something embarrassed her- the way she was acting said it all. With damped eyes, she rubbed her throat as if gathering the courage to tell me something. Something that would probably make me mad as hell.

โ€œSo, she is not home yet?โ€ she asked.

โ€œWhat do you mean by she is not home yet!?โ€ I snapped back

My voice rose into a harsh tone; eyes still facing the ground, Amanda busted into tears. Guilt overwhelmed me, my attitude was due to stress. She did not deserve to be treated in such a way. All I was doing was scaring her. I needed her help not to freak her out.

โ€œListen, Amanda I apologise for my behaviour, but if you know something please tell me,โ€ I placed a hand on her shoulder to encourage her confessing.

โ€œI told her not to go,โ€ she shrieked.

โ€œWhere? Where did my daughter go?โ€ I probed.

โ€œShe left with Troy last night to get even with you. I pleaded with her to change her mind and come to my place instead, but she declined my proposition. I called her, I donโ€™t know how many time, but not even once did she pick up the call. I made my way to your house with the intention to see her safe and sound,โ€ she sat on the pavement as if disappointed about her shattering hope.

My ears could not believe Amandaโ€™s words. How could Lisa do this? I never felt so much rage before as Iโ€™m going through right now. I told her so many times about the reasons for my disappearance at night and instructed her well enough about the dangers of the night. Being a ghost whispers, I knew things better than any human being. I was not a fool to prevent her from stepping out at night. All that I wanted was to protect her from evils like Troy.

โ€œWhere does he lives?โ€ I inquired with acrimony.

โ€œI can take you there,โ€ She jumped back on her feet with a determination to help.

As fast as lighting, we took a cap and headed toward Troyโ€™s house. After a long reckless route, the driver deposited us in front of a gigantic custom iron gate; about 10 feet tall, forged with the emblem of two swords. The ultimate purpose of the gate was to safeguard the entrance from strangers to the inside of the precious white mansion which was approximately 8000 squares foot. The architecture of the windows and doors were flawless and splendid, everything was geometrical. The house was built in the middle of an immense colourful garden; composing of a koi pond just beneath a mediaeval fountain. A garage just next to the house itself; big enough to store 5 machines. Next to the gate were a video doorbell, I pressed the button which would allow me to communicate from the inside.

โ€œLet me in!โ€ I hollered.

Nobody spoke back, Troy must be a spoiled brat, but Iโ€™m not leaving from here without my daughter. Being ignored by the imbecile poisoned the ears of my daughter to disobey me; escalated the degree of my fury. I was so frenzied that I felt my ears becoming red and hot, the only thing missing where smoke getting out of it. I booted the gate with all my force and to my amazement; it opened making a creaky sound. Either someone opened it from the inside or it was never locked. Amanda and I walked along the pathway which led to the white mansion.

I pounded on the door and demanded to be let in. I knocked louder and harder each time like a beast until that narcissistic guy opened the entrance. Wearing nothing than just a short, he looked like the devil; I can recognise one when I see one, after all, Iโ€™m a ghost whisper. Looking at his face made my blood steaming, my hand raised unintentionally and slapped his mockery face. He stared at me with astonishment, then gazed at me with violence.

โ€œWhere is my daughter?โ€ I shouted on top of my lung.

In his arrogant triumph, he smirked; knowing exactly what I was referring to. Still, he played the fool with me. Seeing the pain of others amused him after all, in front of him I was just an ordinary man. If only he knew who I was, his arrogance would vanish into the air. I can assassinate him or drive him crazy by using my ghosts, but he was lucky enough that I do not misuse my power.

โ€œHey! Old man! Who are you? And who the hell is your daughter?โ€ he asked arrogantly.

โ€œYOU MORRON! Where is Lisa? I know she joined you last night,โ€ snapped Amanda.

โ€œOh, that little girl of you,โ€ he laughed hysterically, then whispered in my ear. โ€œOld man, I do not know where she is and I donโ€™t give a fuck either,โ€

โ€œScrew you! Move!โ€ I shoved him and infiltrated the house.

โ€œLisa where are you?โ€ Both Amanda and I shouted out. We separated our ways to look for her; I took the ground floor while Amanda picked up the second floor. The ground floor comprised of a luxurious and spacious living room; all the furniture was off-white against the rich dark. On the wooden floor were an extensive fireplace, chandelier, and a tall ceiling. The contemporary of the kitchen were of Petra grindstone wall and rich wood panelling matching the cabinetry. The gallery featured a marble countertop, raised wood dining surface and a bar full of liquor. There were two chambers downstairs; a gym one and a grandiose guest room; where three men were snoozing. Lisa was nowhere! Maybe Amanda found her upstairs, but my hope vanished when she came back shaking her head.

I walked face to face near Troy and warned โ€œTroy you will tell me where is Lisa or the consequences will not be good,โ€

โ€œOld man,โ€ he chuckled. โ€œDo you know who I am? My mother is the best advocate in this city. What are you going to do, huh? Fill a case against me? OHHHH look how afraid I am,โ€ he mocked.

โ€œAnd Iโ€™m sure that you do not want to know me, Troy. I will find her with or without your cooperation and if I discovered that you hurt her, let alone your parents, even the master of the universe will fail to protect you from me.โ€ We left his house with the belief that the police might come to help.

We went to the nearest police station by foot; without considering Troyโ€™s taunts. We got inside the station like crazy people; we kept on looking left and right to see who can help us. I ran desperately near the first officer that I noticed. It was a shame for a ghost whisper to depend on a human being to seek help. Despite I was craving to find back my daughter, I did not want to deceive the gods.

โ€œHello, Iโ€™m inspector Steward, how can I help you?โ€ the policeman asked by shifting his gaze from his paper to us.

I took the chair and narrated him about my problem. He picked up his pen to write my statement; he was taking everything seriously when one question of him changed everything.

โ€œGive me the full name of the boy,โ€ he requested

โ€œTroy Peterson,โ€ Amanda said

His brown eyes widen โ€œThe son of Elizabeth Peterson?โ€ he asked.

โ€œYes,โ€ Amanda returned.

He wavered, put down his pen and spoke againโ€ we cannot fill a missing case before 24 hours passed by,โ€

โ€œBut…โ€ I needed to argue back, but he cut me off.

โ€œGet out of here right now! Or I will use force to kick you out,โ€ He treated.

โ€œSo, thatโ€™s the oath you took while becoming a law enforcement right? To support the wealthy even if they are wrongdoers and let the poor people stay miserable. Itโ€™s because of humans like you that people like me are created. You see, inspector, if you were willing to help me, I would not have to do things in my way,โ€ I answered both smoothly and disheartened.

โ€œIs that a warning?โ€ his tone raised.

Ignoring him, I seized the hands of Amanda and left the police station. I knew exactly what to do now, sometimes circumstances compelled you to become the person you never intended to become. They wanted to challenge a ghost whisper.

โ€œChallenge accepted,โ€

chapter 5

P.O. V PROFESSOR DAVID

I accompanied Amanda back to her house; she insisted to remain by my side, but I declined her company. Instead, I went to grieve on my fate in front of my deceased spouseโ€™s photo. There was no way that I would lose another member of my family. I will get my daughter back, no matter what it will cost me.

By the time, midnight fell and encompassed the city into ultimate obscurity. I scampered down the road towards the cemetery, my shoes clattering on the pavement; making echoes into the utter silence of the lane. Circumstances left me with only one option. Tonight, instead of helping the dead, I will seek their help. A soul can locate any human beings or another ghost with just a snub of seconds.

The moment I tiptoed inside the burial ground; clusters of ghosts bumped into the night. Each one looking at me as if I was their liberator. I perceived their pleading, but today the role will be reversed.

With a sharp and rigid tone, I called out. โ€œI know that all of you are here to solicit my service; to take care of your unfinished businesses. Never did I fail to help you!, Never did I exploit you!, but today I need your help. Who can help me?โ€ I asked pathetically.

I despised myself for sounding so helpless, but all that mattered was Lisa. Most of the spirits rubbernecked at me because, since the beginning of history, ghost whispers are known to control ghosts for missions not to implore them for help. My principals and values were above everything else, nobody deserved to be used like mere objects not even the lifeless. Ghost whispers are a blessing from gods; catachresis such holiness would be a shame. Nobody moved forward to help me. I did not want to get recourse to my powers; I wanted them to help me on their own.

โ€œHow I help you?โ€ said a hissing voice.

A man strode from obscuration; barely perceptible by views, only his crimson eyes were discernible. Ghostsโ€™ missions could be seen by the colour of their eyes; white which mean that their only unfinished business is neutral things like saying goodbye to someone, red means revenge and black belong to those ghosts who stuck too much in this world and are losing all of their humanity. The shadow popped up by my side; he wanted to speak but his lips were sewn, his crimson eyes were so stupefying that I could not avoid staring. Suddenly, voices popped inside my head.

โ€œIโ€™m Sir Patrick, a lunatic stitched my lips before slaughtered me, but we will talk about this later. Professor David, you did a lot for us, tell me how can I return the favour?โ€ his words resounding inside my head.

It stunned me, during all these years of helping souls, never did I bump into a ghost who can interact with telepathy. I thought that only ghost whispers could telepathies with ghosts, but I was not aware that it could be vice versa. Ghosts can make you have visions and touch humans, but during all my career I never experienced spirits with telepathy gift.

โ€œMy daughter, she is missing since yesterday. I searched for her everywhere, I went to file a case against a certain Troy, but the police refused to aid me. I am left with the only hope that one among you can make me a favour to find her. You will not stay unrewarded, I vow to give you salvation sooner than predicted,โ€ I declared.

โ€œProfessor David, for me to trace out your daughter, you need to provide me with something that belongs to her,โ€ said Sir Patrick.

Quickly, I withdrew the locket of hair surrounded my collar; my daughter gave me that years ago when she was just a little girl. People usually hand out locket of hairs over to lovers, but I was the first man whom my daughter fell in love with, thatโ€™s why she made me the present of her hair. Since then, separated myself from my gift became unthinkable. Until now, the situation compelled me to give it away.

He held the locket of hair in both of his palms, rose his face up in the sky; his red eyes turned silver. Bolts of lightning light up in the sky. He carried on glancing at the sky for a few seconds, then he sealed his eyes and gripped his hands on my head; electrocuted from head to toe, my eyes burnt and shut on its own. I was no longer in the cemetery, I found myself standing in a tunnel with a beam of light at its end. I ran towards the light and stepped into a forest which was ancient. The trees thick and old, roots tangled into each other. Previously it might have been occupied with animals and enchanted with birds-songs, but now it seems deserted with a dreary stream in the middle of the jungle. Just beside the river was a board which read โ€œThe forest of silenceโ€. That must be the name of the forest. The vision gradually faded away, and I was back into the cemetery.

โ€œYour daughter is thereโ€, the ghost reverberated.

What is Lisa doing in such a frightful place? Did this ghost fool me? Questions overloaded my mind. I did not know anymore if I was glad to find her or not. Did something happened to her?.

โ€œAre you playing with me, Sir Patrick? I asked.

โ€œNoโ€ he simply said before vanishing.

โ€œWhat is she doing there? Where is that place even situates?โ€ I hooted, but Sir Patrick, did not show up again? I wanted so badly to use my power to force him into answering all my questions but, my heart prevented me from stepping low. I will find that place on my own or if I fail to do so, Amanda will help me. Both convinced and optimistic, I left to acquire some knowledge about my mystery forest.

Chapter 6

P.O. V PROFESSOR DAVID

Insomnia haunted my night and, now fatigues would take over my day. โ€œThe forest of silenceโ€ became my obsession for the entire night; I sat rigidly on my chair and navigated through the internet, but my effort was pointless. As soon as, the streams of sunlight appeared through my window pan, I made my way to Amandaโ€™s place. She is as much worried as I am, she will be delighted to help me.

The cockerel was still singing joyfully when I reached Amandaโ€™s place. I did not care if she was sleeping; I just wanted my daughter back. I rang the doorbell twice when the Blondie peeked out of the door. She was in her pyjama, but to my great surprise, she had no sleepy eyes at all. A bright smile popped up her lips as she saw me.

โ€œMr David!โ€ she exclaimed, โ€œDid Lisa show up?โ€

โ€œGood morning Amanda. No, but I need your help to locate her,โ€ I said politely.

โ€œOh, Iโ€™m sorry; I forgot to greet you good morning. Of course! Tell me what I can do. I spent a white night, I kept on thinking about Lisa, I made some research on Troy Petersonโ€™s mother. Apparently, his mother is the best lawyer in the city and have a good reputation for corrupting the law. Seeking the help of the police will be a waste of time,โ€ she said.

โ€œI know, I just want you to search and tell me where is the location of the โ€˜forest of silenceโ€™,โ€

โ€œWhat! But why?โ€

โ€œPlease do not ask me any questions, just do it for Lisa,โ€ I pleaded

She looked at me with one lifted eyebrows; I guess she thought that I went crazy. She tilted her tapered face and bit her nails. I understood her reaction if I was a simple human being I would react in the same way. Lisa and she had been like sisters for years. Even though she might be thinking I am weird, she will never refuse to help.

โ€œOk, just wait for me to dress up then we can go to Rose Embryoโ€™s library; Iโ€™m a member there, maybe we can find something about your mysterious forest. You can come and sit down in my living room if you want,โ€ she suggested.

โ€œNo, I will be fine outside, just be quick, please,โ€

She let the door open and rushed upstairs to dress up. She did not take more than 10 minutes when she showed up again.

โ€œLetโ€™s go!โ€

Within 10 minutes of walking, we reached the library. Amanda presented her membership card to the person in charged and asked for permission to let me in too. The receptionist refused at first, however, a twenty dollars note changed her mind. We passed through a luminous corridor before getting into a gigantic library; the lined rows filled up with books, each row had an indicator about which books it contained (history, encyclopaedia, fiction, horror, romance, thriller and so on), the roof was made up of glass while the floor was of dark shiny wooden floor. The library was busy with people, but there were no noises at all. At the corner, it consisted of computers, only the sound of the tapped of keyboards could be heard. The round roof was made up of tainted blue glass through which we could see hummingbirds spreading their wings and fly freely in the air.

โ€œLetโ€™s get to workโ€ Amanda whispered.

We spent the whole day searching; we did not even take lunch but none of us was successful. I was about to give up when a book from the top range fell on my head like a gift sending from God. It was painful, but what it contained inside justified the pain. Eyes wide opened and excited as hell, I screamed: โ€œThatโ€™s it, thatโ€™s the bookโ€. I felt angry gaze on me, I guessed, I shouted too loud. Amanda ran toward me and we inspected the book together; the location was just in the front place. Weirdly, the forest was just a few miles away from Troyโ€™s place. That bastard might have kidnapped my daughter and locked her somewhere in the forest. I will find my daughter and will make him pay for this.

โ€œThank you so much, Amanda, you can go back home nowโ€ I assured her.

โ€œThere is no way that Iโ€™m going back home, Iโ€™m coming with you. You found that place because of me and I have so many questions for you,โ€ She snapped back.

I wanted to argue with her, but I had a limited amount of time. God knows what Troy did to Lisa, so I simply nodded to Amanda and we left the library. A lined of taxi drivers parked on the outside of the libraries. While hearing out our destination, none of them agreed to drive us there. One out of twenty drivers accepted to offer his service not because he pitied us, but for twice the price that the journey would normally cost and with the condition of not waiting for us to come back.

We passed across Troyโ€™s mansion and drove a few more miles before coming face to face with our mystery forest. I paid the driver, and we ran into the gloomy and lifeless forest. The forest was scarier than in my vision; there was no sound of life, leafless branches twisted into each other and covered the upper regions. I assumed that this place never got a single drop of rain as the was dry and cracked. The deeper we went, the cooler became the atmosphere. It might sound weird, but, even though I am a ghost whisper, this place gave me goosebumps. Itโ€™s as if this place was a curse. Amandaโ€™s clenching of teeth was the only noise that my ears could hear.

โ€œLisa! Lisa!โ€ Both Amanda and I screamed.

Our voices resounded through the wood, but nobody answered us back. There were only us and the wood. The atmosphere became darker as the sky darkened, however; We did not want to give up on Lisa. I knew she was here. Darkness was not an obstacle for me, but for Amanda, it might become a problem.

โ€œMr David are you sure she is here? I mean why the hell would she choose this place to stay?โ€ Amanda asked breathlessly.

โ€œYes, she has to be nearby, that Troy must have tied her up somewhere. we need to keep on searching,โ€œ. I answered back

We forced our legs for some extra steps; thatโ€™s when a miracle happened. Right in front of us was the same dry river that Sir Patrick, showed me. We were getting closer to Lisa. According to Sir Patrick, Lisa should be in this exact place. I spun around myself to see where she was, but alas she was still missing.

โ€œLisaโ€ I shouted one more time. This time my shouting did not go in vain: a glowing ball of fire fell irradiated the sky and fell near the nearest tree. From its mist appeared a young girl; her long hair covered half of her naked body while the other half was covered by bloodstained. She lifted gradually her muddy face and fixed me with her emotionless eyes. Her pale lips moved and formed the word โ€œPapaโ€. Who did that to her!

โ€œLisaโ€ I screamed with eyes full of tears and ran to hug her when a tiny hand held me back.

โ€œMr David, where is Lisa? I cannot see her,โ€ asked Amanda both confused and scared.

โ€œWhat? She is right here, in front of you,โ€ I answered back

Amanda looked in front of her one more time and she shook her head hesitantly. Unable to understand, I held her hands into mine and was about to lead her the way with the thought that darkness was preventing her to see well when the sight of my eyes caught her watch; It was 12 a.m. I quickly realized why I was the only one being able to see Lisa.

โ€œNO! NO!โ€ I sat on my knees and cried. โ€œNOOOOOOO!

Chapter 7

P.O. V PROFESSOR DAVID

Physically, I was there; sitting on my knees, shedding tears which moisten the dried soil. However, mentally, I was in my little world; I remembered the day I promised to always be on her side, but I failed to maintain my duty. Head bending down, I felt a cold hand caressing my face. I did not lift my head not because I did not want to see her, but because I was too ashamed to face my deceased daughter.

โ€œDaddyโ€ her voice was soft like the susurration of the wind.

She slowly lifted my head with her frosty fingers. As my eyes met those of hers; angered and grieved took control over my body, but my mind was like dead. I could not speak; it was as if somebody glued my lips. Something horrible took place last night, Lisaโ€™s eyes were enough to let me guess it; her deep red iris surrounded her black pupils while her sclera was of light yellow. She had the eyes of a beast searching for its prey. I knew I could not stay muted for long. Lisa needed my help. I forced my mouth open to say something reasonable, but all I said was: โ€œLisa, my baby girlโ€.

I struggled to touch her face with my shaken hand, but I ended up touching the air. She was a ghost, nobody can touch ghosts not even a ghost whisper. Ghosts are the only one who can touch human beings thatโ€™s why they can be deadly fatal.

โ€œDad, can you see me?โ€ she sibilated.

โ€œYesโ€ I answered with a cracking voice

” Iโ€™m sorry, dad! I sure have trusted you,โ€ She whispered into my ears.

โ€œWhat happened to you, Lisa?โ€ I asked.

My question aroused her ghostly instinct; the air became cooler; enough to freeze a heart to death. Her tone changed from soft susurration to ear-piercing screams. She was in torment; she had unfinished businesses. What made me afraid was that my paternal love was deeper than my devotion toward the Gods.

โ€œLisa, I can help you. You need to tell papa about what happened to you,โ€ I spoke in a calm and soft voice.

โ€œMr David, why is it breezing so much and who are you speaking to? I want to go homeโ€ said Amanda; frozen and folding her arms around her body. I was so focused on Lisa that I forgot about her. The situation terrified her; her lips were drained, eyes full of panic and her voice voiced out like the cry of a baby.

โ€œAmandaโ€ฆโ€ I murmured.

โ€œAmanda! She floated in the air near her!. My girl, Iโ€™m here and Iโ€™m sorry for not listening to you,โ€ Lisa cut me off.

Amanda could not hear her or see her. She was just gazing at me, awaiting me to finish my sentence, but what am I supposed to tell her?.

โ€œMr David please letโ€™s go away from here. You are hallucinating,โ€ she sighed.

โ€œShe cannot see me, right?โ€ Lisa hissed back at me.

โ€œNo, only a ghost whisper can see a dead soul. Amanda can only see you if I allow it. But I cannot do so because it is against nature,โ€ I explained to Lisa.

โ€œI WANT HER TO SEE ME,โ€ Lisa yelled.

โ€œI cannot! I never went against nature,โ€ I maintained.

โ€œI SAY, I WANT HER TO SEE ME! OR I WILL NOT TELL YOU ANYTHING,โ€ she yelled like a wounded animal

Lisa was not the sweet girl that I once knew. Her reaction could not be blamed because the more she will remain in the human world, the more her humanity will disappear. She put me in a dilemma; on one hand, I had my daughter who I needed to help so badly, and on the other hand, I had the law of nature to preserve.

โ€œMAKE HER SEE ME!โ€ She went on yelling stubbornly.

โ€œFineโ€ I exclaimed. I did not want to do so, but Lisa was my priority. Maybe if I had prioritised her since the beginning, she would still be alive today. My conscious was about to reprimand me but I blocked it by concentrating solely on Lisa. I needed to calm her down and knew the entire story. Without thinking, I turned on my feet and approached Amanda. The poor girl was so traumatised.

โ€œMr Davidโ€ She spoke just like a little girl pleading to her parents.

I stuck my fingers between her eyes, closed mine and called out. โ€œAMANDA CLINTON HERIOTZA IKUSTEKO AUKERA EMATEN DUT,โ€

Instantly, as I yelled the spell to allow Amanda to see the dead; the weather became cyclonic; the wind blew hit our skin and leave our cheeks with a slap. The soil lifted up the ground and burned our eyes which left us of no choices than to shut it close. Amanda buried her face on my shoulder and held me firmly. After a few moments, the weather went back to normal. Amanda opened her eyes gently. Seeing her face, I knew that the spell worked: eyes wide opened; she put one hand over her mouth to restrict herself from screaming.

โ€œLISA,โ€ she yelled.

โ€œYou can see me?โ€ Lisa asked

โ€œYes, but why are you naked and bleeding?โ€ She removed her coat to wrap Lisaโ€™s bare body, but she did not expect what would happen. The coat perforated Lisaโ€™s transparency body and fell to the ground.

โ€œwhat the hell! Lisa you… Oh my god!โ€ she broke down and ran behind me.

โ€œThere is no need to fear me. I will not hurt you,โ€ Lisa pleaded

โ€œWhat happened to you?โ€ Amanda asked by peeking through my shoulder.

” Troy and his friends molested me and later they murdered me. They buried just there; next to the river,โ€ her cried sounded like shattering glasses.

โ€œWHAT?โ€ I asked both astounded and furious. I knew Lisa was deceased, but discovering how much she suffered made my soul spasm. Never did I raised a hand on her and some brats just tortured her before executing her. They will pay for that, I swear to god. They will suffer from the worst death ever.

โ€œThat night, I thought it was the end, but inside my gloomy grave made the appearance of a lady; she came to me and got me out of my grave. The luminous lady presented herself as NYX. She told me that you will come to help me before disappearing. I tried to get out of this place, but something kept on pulling me inside,โ€ she announced.

โ€œYOU WILL GET OUT OF THIS FOREST, YOU WILL FIND THEM AND YOU WILL KILL THEM ALL. I, DAVID WILSON; GHOST WHISPER ALLOW YOU LISA WILSON TO GET OUT OF HERE AND KILL THEM ALL. KILL THEM ALL,โ€ I screeched.

I did not care about the law of nature anymore because nobody cared about my daughter. I needed revenge; I wanted them dead. All of them. I served the Gods since childhood and when it came for my daughter; they did not help back.

โ€œBut remember Lisa, you can roam out only between 12. am till sunrise. No souls can stay during daytime among humans unless you possess someone, but I would not like you to make someone innocent suffer. Every midnight, you will get out of here and execute one by one. Make sure that they suffer,โ€ I yelled. Tears rolled into my eyes and with an aching heart, I cursed Troy and his buddies. Tomorrow they will pay for their deed.

โ€œThank you, papaโ€ She hinted before fading into the dark.

Chapter 8

P.O. V Professor David

That night after seeing Lisa, Amanda could not make a sound; she was like a walking dead. We were lucky enough that a car was passing through the highway and had the kindness to drive us home. I did not hear of her the entire day and to be sincere, I did not want to talk to anyone either. I devoted my entire day imagining about the worst approach to use to establish the most painful death for those rapists and murderers.

I ate nothing but starvation and thirst were nothing compared to my eagerness to see Lisa again. Maybe tonight she would show up and work out for the revenge together. I kept on thinking and thinking till my head started to spin and I fell into a profound sleep. I woke up with a blench when the pendulum hit twelve. I seemed like I fell asleep the entire day which was not surprising at all. The voices from the cemetery were calling me, my soul demanded to follow the voices but my body and mind wanted Lisa to appear. I remained in my armchairs and waited, when eventually the air became frozen, steamed came out of my mouth. It was Lisa, I just knew it.

โ€œLisa where are you?โ€ I called out for her with a huge beam. Even though she is a ghost now, she is my daughter. Seeing her and seeking revenge was now my only ambition.

โ€œRight hereโ€ I overheard a perverse voice coming from the kitchen. I rushed and saw a little girl standing in the corner of the kitchen. That was my Lisa.

โ€œI did not turn up in front of you for not scaring you as I did with Amanda,โ€ she spat

โ€œIโ€™m a ghost whisper, remember you cannot scare me,โ€ I assured her.

โ€œDad, I do not want to kill Troy, I want to drive him mad first but for that, I need someone to possess a human,โ€ she declared with a determined expression.

โ€œLisa when you possess someone, most of the time the humans try to fight back which leave ghosts with no alternatives than to block them. In a result the human soul would be like in a coma and worthless. Do you wish to injure an innocent?โ€

โ€œNo, there is no need to block them if they grant you the permission. I will just borrow the body for my attack. Then I will flee away. I vow to you,โ€ she beseeched.

โ€œWho do you think would give a ghost their body for rental?โ€ I clicked back

She glanced at her toes and said โ€œAmandaโ€.

Amanda was a nice choice, but the poor girl was traumatized and now possessing her would drive her crazy forever.

โ€œLisa, Amanda is terrified of you. You know this right?โ€ I said

โ€œYes, but it will cost you nothing to ask her once,โ€ she appealed.

My mind said no but my heart said yes. My paternal instinct took over my soul, and I grabbed my phone, dialled Amanda number and waited for an answer. She did not take long before picking up the call.

โ€œHello,โ€ a soft and sweet voice answered.

โ€œAmanda, sorry for disturbing you at such a time,โ€

โ€œOh, itโ€™s okay. I was expecting a call. Did Lisa shows up?โ€

โ€œYes, and we call for your help. Can you come over?โ€

โ€œGrant me 10 minutes,โ€ she said before hanging over the phone.

I kept on walking around the living room, waiting for Amanda. Lisa was doing her weird ghostly things by hitting her own head against the wall and kept on murmuring โ€œkill them allโ€. Seeing her like this will surely freak Amanda.

the doorbell rang and Amanda showed up, she peeped inside and saw Lisa hitting her head against the wall. I expected her to just run away, but she got inside and walked dawdled near Lisa.

โ€œLisaโ€ she murmured

Hearing her tender voice, Lisa stopped being weird and gazed at her saying nothing.

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry for yesterday. I should not have run away from you. I miss you so much,โ€ busted Amanda

โ€œAmanda. Iโ€™m not annoyed with you. I would freak out too in your place but I need a favour from you,โ€ added Lisa to Amanda

โ€œAsk me whatever that you want,โ€ Amanda snapped.

She was so convincing and bracing to cooperate that I wondered if after hearing about Lisa request she would feel the same enthusiasm.

โ€œLean me your body, let me possess you. I can execute them as a ghost but Iโ€™m preparing them the worst torture ever and for that, I need your body.โ€ Lisaโ€™s eyes fixed Amanda for an answer

Amanda did not react the way I predicted, instead, she smirked and spoke

โ€œPlease assure me first you will not do that creepy phenomenon of hitting my head against the wall,โ€ she chuckled.

โ€œI guarantee you that you will not get hurt and you will have full conscious about what is going on. On top of that, you would be able to take control of your body whenever you wish,โ€œ. Lisa promised her.

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m a little tense but I trust my best friend,โ€

Amanda reaction still amazed me. Yesterday she reacted like the walking dead and now she is all delighted to get possessed. This girl is unpredictable. Lisa flew near Amanda, placed her frigid hands on the warm hands of Amanda and gradually fusing herself into Amandaโ€™s body. Amanda gazed at me and blackout. That is what happens when a ghost possesses someone. Amanda will not wake up until dawn. The law of nature can stun you sometime. I picked up Amandaโ€™s body in my arm and placed her on my bed hoping that it will be Lisa waking up in it.

Chapter 9

P.O. V Lisa

I woke up with a wonderful feeling; I felt warm, visible and alive. Amandaโ€™s body is so soft and voluptuous. I glanced at my best friendโ€™s body in the mirror; I forgot that she had the most splendid body, and forgot what being humans meant. I touched my new body, examining myself in the mirror.

โ€œWeirdo stop patting me!โ€ groaned Amanda inside my head.

โ€œStop being selfish, Iโ€™m hundred per cent sure that Troy will fall for that body,โ€ I smirked.

Even though I took possession of Amanda, my monomania for revenge did not cease. I coveted for revenge, itโ€™s like revenge was my sole objective in life. Before executing my plan I needed to discuss it with my father as his help will be needed tonight for my first prey. Speaking of evil, I saw his reflection in the mirror. He fixed me as if I was an alien.

โ€œLisa?โ€ he asked

” Any doubt dad?โ€

I smiled at him. He ran toward me and hugged me. After holding me in his arm for a while he released me.

โ€œIt feels so good to hold you into my arms,โ€ he stated with eyes full of tears.

โ€œDad, I need you to wait for me tonight at 12 a.m at the forest of silence. Bring me a rope; strong enough for Troy not to flee away. Can you do that?โ€ I demanded

โ€œYes, what are you plotting against him?โ€ he asked

โ€œTonight even the devil will sit and take notes, just showed up and you will understand,โ€ I grinned evilly. I kissed him on the cheek and flew away to find Troy. Being a ghost made me capable of running faster than any humans, I reached college sooner than expected and noticed my prey near the fence itself

โ€œHi, Troyโ€ I reached near to him and whispered in his ears.

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€ he answered.

โ€œOh! not delighted to see me?โ€ I mocked

โ€œNoโ€ he clicked

โ€œSo sad, since Lisa vanished, I craved to meet you to make you screamed and make you begged like no one ever did before,โ€ I grinned

โ€œWhat!โ€ he wailed

” I mean erotically, you must miss Lisa a lot right? so maybe a night with me will make you feel better. what say? I caressed his face with my figures and end up garrison his lips while biting mine in a seductive way.

He changed attitude immediately.; grabbed my waist against him, put my hair behind my ears and murmured โ€œyour place or my place?โ€

โ€œNeither one love. I will bring you to the most memorable place ever. Count on me. Wait for me at 11:30 tonight.โ€ I wicked then push him away from me. I walked away with a grin feeling victorious.

11:30 p.m

I wore a slimy black jean with a matching black top, highlighted my eyes with eyeliner and put a crimson lipstick on my lips. Troy opened the front door and sat in the front seat of the car which I rented. He was wearing black too. He observed me from head to toe; eyes full of lust.

” You look so provocative in this outfit darling,โ€ said Troy

” Do you know what black represents? It means death, cremation and tormentโ€. I gazed at him in the eyes and noticed that my words gave him goosebump.โ€œIโ€™m joking babyโ€ I laughed, and he relaxed himself. I took out a piece of cloth in my bag and handed it over to Troy.โ€ Blindfold yourselfโ€

โ€œWhat? Hottie you are being ghastly now,โ€ he teased

โ€œweird! No blindfold, whip and chains excite me, now blindfold yourself or we will not have fun,โ€ I imposed. He gazed at me for a moment and obeyed. I turned the key to the car and drove to the place where everything started. After a few miles, I parked the car on the highway and ordered Troy to get out. He reached his hands to get rid of the piece of cloth from his eyes but I interrupted him.

โ€œWhy are you spoiling the fun darling, I will escort you,โ€ I waited for him to protest but he simply nodded

I seized both his hands, wrapped it behind his back and guided him through the woods. The blackness of the night thrilled me; itโ€™s like a mystical material for us supernatural beings. We passed through the black truck trees; the sky was charcoal with no star at all and branches spiked in the sky. โ€œAmanda where are we? Remove that blindfold now,โ€ he requestedโ€No, loveโ€ I cachinnate. He resisted, but I was stronger than him. He was the prey, and I was the master of the game. How can he win on my playground? Impossible.โ€œAmanda, leave me,โ€ He admonished. I ignored him and forced him deeper into the woods, he kept on screaming and cursing and I kept on going. Finally, we reached where he buried me. Dad was there with his ropes. I pushed Troy on the ground and let him unfold his eyes. He opened his eyes like two marbles; not believing where he ended up. He stood on his feet, stared at both my dad and me.โ€œAmanda what the hell! I will kill you,โ€ he warned.โ€ Amanda? Who Amanda? I taunted.โ€ Dad let him see meโ€ I addressed to the ghost whisper. Dad approached Troy, stuck his figures between his eyes. I got out of Amandaโ€™s body and stood behind Troy.โ€œWhat the hell? donโ€™t touch meโ€ He was about to slap my dad when I snagged his hands to let my father continue the ritual. He glanced with astonishment at his hands which was stuck in the air. After the rite, Troy fell on the ground again.

โ€œTroy get up loveโ€ I spoke behind him hearing my voice he clenched his fists, the shock ricochets up his skeleton. He looked at Amanda who was standing in front of him and realized that it was not her calling him. He turned his head abruptly and faced me. I heard his heart speeding.โ€ Li Lisa!โ€ he stumbled

” Surprise! So baby do you like my memorable place?,โ€ I said approaching near him

Unable to face the reality, he tried to make a dash but how could I let him go away? I sleight my hand in the air; forced the winds to lift the broken branches and soil in the air to encircle Troy. Each time he made a move to get out of the circle, I took the pleasure to bruise his face with the branches.

โ€œStop please,โ€ he yelled

” Beg me to let you goโ€ I dispelled into the air and phantasm into the surrounding.

Seeing me near him he tried to make a step backwards but failed to do so. He had no choice than to stoop.

โ€œPlease, Lisa let me go, Iโ€™m so sorry. I was drunk that night please,โ€ he begged, kneeling on his feet in front of me.

โ€œNo love, you are going to get rape. Do you like sodomy?โ€

He looked at me confused, not digesting my words. With my psychokinesis ability, I teleported a big branch; dappled with lichen, longer than the palm of my hand. With a clap of my hand, all the branches and dust surrounding him fell down.

” Dad, Amanda why donโ€™t you grab my prey after all he troubled you too,โ€ I hissed

โ€œNo, please. Iโ€™m sorry! let me go pleaseโ€ Troy tried to escape again, but I smacked his head with my palm just like he did with me. Both Amanda and my father grasped him and swung him on his back.

โ€œPlease, Iโ€™m sorry, pleaseโ€ he moaned and pleaded. My prey was petrified, and this delighted me.

I tore his jeans and underpants, smacked the branch violently into his ass and watched with happiness his blood coming out. He howled in pain, asking for help but nobody heard him, nobody saved him. His scream of agony was like music into my ears. When I was done with him, I ordered my allies to let go of him. He wanted so badly to run away but he could not even get up; he was bleeding too much and was too weak.

โ€œPlease let me go homeโ€ he went on pleading.

โ€œDid you let me go and pity me when I implored you?โ€ I yelled back. I snagged a bunch of his hair and lugged him near a tree. โ€œDad tie him up so that he cannot slip away,โ€œ.

โ€œYou cannot leave me here in the dark. Please forgive me,โ€ he blasted.

โ€œYou get what you sow Troy! You will stay here the whole night, I will come back for you tomorrowโ€

I kissed him on his lips; exhaling my bitterness into his mouth and inhaling his fear. โ€œI will kill you allโ€ I mumbled into his ears and fusion in Amandaโ€™s body again. Then we left Troy alone in his misery behind us. Tomorrow will be our next move.

Chapter 10

P.O. V Lisa

6 A.M

Tied with a rope around a shaft, half-naked with dried blood, head down, swollen face and fluffy eyes. My victim was either dead or, sleeping. Sunshine pierced through the wood like a canopy of gold. How can he die so fast? Iโ€™m not even to him yet. If he died, that would be so unfair, I did not have enough fun with him. But, souls are immortal, right? Then, my revenge would follow him for eternity, even in hell!

โ€œTwinkle, twinkle little Troy,โ€

โ€œI just wondered if youโ€™re dead,โ€

โ€œLah, lah, lah,โ€

I sang and lifted his head with my index figure. His fluffy eyes half- closed, he opened his mouth to push a sigh; my prey was alive and exhausted. Excitement and cruelty took over me. What if I rape him again? The idea was alluring but, this would surely kill him and made me a wicked ghost. This will have to wait because my sweetheart will have to witness the death of his friends before facing his own. But, round two will surely come.

โ€œMorning loveโ€ I stated while squeezing my nails into his cuts at the same time.

” Please, Lisa! Stopโ€ Tears kept rolling on his cheeks.

” Oh, donโ€™t cry. See I even brought water for you,โ€ I said

He urged his eyes to open a little more and made a pleading expression. I poured the water into the bottleโ€™s plug and lifted it in front of Troyโ€™s mouth. Unfortunately, half of the water spilt on the ground before reaching his mouth, maybe I did it intentionally.

โ€œMoreโ€ he uttered

” Oh! Now, you are being ill-mannered. Enough for today!,โ€ I rebuked โ€ You will get food too if you cooperate with me,โ€ I proceeded.

โ€œEverything that you wantโ€, He sounded so desperate, just like a puppy hustling to his master.

โ€œWhere can I find Christian?โ€ I inquired

” No, you will torture him too,โ€ he beseeched.

How dared him defy me. My eyes turned crimson again and voice shifted into a fierce scream.

โ€œHow dare you refuse me!โ€ I hit my foot on the ground with all my supernatural force which led the ground to tremble; vines with thorns grew up beneath Troy and wrapped him around his neck. I made sure that those vines penetrated his skins deep enough to suffocate him.

โ€œOne last time, tell me everything or you will receive round two with those veins in your ass,โ€ I warned

โ€œI will tell you, Christian works as a bouncer at Ace club,โ€ he chocked.

โ€œGood boy,โ€ I derided and free him from the vines. โ€ But I will punish you for your insolence, you will not have food today,โ€ I groaned before abandoning him again.

The disadvantage of being in a human body is that you cannot vanish into the air and emerge into another place in a split of seconds. I needed to get back home to plan for my next target. Killing them as a ghost would be much easier but it will not be fun. Feeling their blood on my hands is just pure satisfaction, torturing them before their execution is what I call happiness. Those dogs will definitely die but, their death would not be an easy one.

I turned on the engine of my car and, drove with a mind full of maniac ideas. He spat on me and dared to call me a bitch. Tormenting Christian tonight before executing him would satisfy half of my thirst for revenge. Drinking his blood tempted me but, making my scapegoat Troy drinking it would better. Still, in my malicious thought, a voice evoked inside my mind and left me with a sensation of tightness and pressure across my forehead.

โ€œLisa! Lisa! help me!โ€ a familiar voice resounded.

The woeful voice sounded like my father, whatโ€™s happening to him?. My murderous looks changed into trepidation, agitation and a frightful appearance. The voice became increasingly strident and, left me with a vision; an old architecture building, a gloomy and freezing place, my father was on a chair and, in front of him was a man; dressed in a blue uniform, robust, afro hair and his skin were dark browns. The vision vanished away and, left me indignant.

โ€œThatโ€™s inspector Steward, let me take control over my body and drive you there,โ€ Amanda shouted inside of my head.

” Who is he?โ€ I asked both irritated and disgruntled

โ€œWe went to the police station to seek his help when you disappeared. But, he was so rude towards you when he heard Troyโ€™s name and threw us out of the place,โ€ groaned Amanda

โ€œBring me thereโ€ I snapped and let Amanda took control over her body. Christian will wait, first I will deal with that inspector. If he ever made the dreadful mistake of touching even a single hair of my father, I will make him the privilege of writing his name on the top list of my blacklist. Messing with me have only one ramification and thatโ€™s death. My animal instinct and compulsion for hunting took over me, after all, Iโ€™m a ghost whose only existence took place for revenge. Blood will shed today but, maybe not those of Christian.
