It was all over the news, announcing the death of Ronald DeFeo Jr. Many people either didn’t know about the man or didn’t care. However, on November 12, 1974, Ronald shot and killed each of his family members. It created an uproar, and the public was shocked at how the murders were done.
Ronald killed not only his parents but also his siblings.
When he was asked why he did it, Ronald stated that voices told him to do it. On the other hand, he had a history of being a heroin and LSD user and having an antisocial personality disorder. Also, there are speculations that Ronald and his father didn’t have a good relationship since his father was abusive.
Ronald said that he heard voices to kill his family, and while doing the murders, he knew what he was doing but couldn’t control himself.
It was as if he was possessed.
Either way, Ronald has put away in prison and stayed there until his death in March 2021. The murder of the DeFeo family has always been in topics of the paranormal and other conspiracy theories. Many people would visit the Amityville house to investigate; many claimed they have or have not experienced something.
However, two individuals decided to investigate the house and see if they could solve the mystery once and for all.
2 Crystal & Adan
Crystal POV
I finished watching the news that announced the death of Ronald DeFeo Jr. It was finally his time, but there was a part of me that wanted to have a chance to interview him. I’m a self-publishing author, but I also do online story writing on Wattpad and other sites. I also work as an online English teacher that helps me get income. I live with a roommate named Adan, and we’re both actually from New Mexico.
At the moment, we both are in New York. We just arrived 3 hours ago. New York is an expensive state; we tried to find hotels, apartments, and beds and breakfasts. We found a bed and breakfast at a reasonable price to our luck. When I wrote down my information, the owner was a reader and fan of my stories. She was very nice to lower the price.
I was very thankful to her, and for my next book, I promised that I would dedicate a thank you to her. It was very nice as it looked like it had a Victorian influence. Adan and I have our separate rooms. I wanted to come here alone, but Adan insisted that he wanted to be here too. Adan and I have been friends since high school.
He was a bit of an outcast. I was the nerd in high school, but my outgoing personality and helpfulness gained respect from others. I started talking with him and learned he loved anime and science. His interests got to me, and we have become friends since then. We also became roommates since we wanted to get out independence from our families.
I wanted to live on my own. However, Adan always had a hard time getting along with his parents. He and his family had a love and hate relationship. His parents were teenage parents, and they treated him more like a friend/roommate than a son. I felt sorry for him, and I let him live with me. Adan was always a hard worker and always paid his rent on time.
On the other hand, I knew that he had feelings for me, even though he would never admit it. I know him very well, and I was afraid he would tell me one day. It’s because I don’t and never had feelings for him. I was afraid that our friendship would end.
Now, I got an opportunity from a publishing agency to get my work to get officially published. I met with an agent and was able to visit the agency. I made calls to make sure they were legit. I was happy that I was getting an opportunity of a lifetime. However, to make the final deal, they wanted me to write a story that would catch the public eye. I realize that there’s competition in romance stories, and it’s expected. I decided to change my genre.
That was when I decided to write something about the paranormal. I researched and believed that the DeFeo case was fascinating. There have always been conflicting debates whether or not Rodney DeFeo Jr was mentally unstable or if it was something out of this world. Well, I hoped that I would bring some light.
I’ve read that the DeFeo house could not be sold, and now it’s a tourist destination. However, only a certain amount of people were allowed inside. With COVID, not many were able to tour the house. Adan and I are going tomorrow afternoon.
As I was unpacking, Adan knocked on the door as he stood by the corner. “Hey, need any help?”
“No, not really. I’m almost finished unpacking. If you want, you can research some places where we can eat.”
“Sure will. I hear New York has good pizza. Interested?”
“Sounds good.” I eyed Adan. I won’t deny that he’s good-looking, but he lacks confidence and is immature. Although I can’t blame him, his parents didn’t help him. Maybe this trip can help him a bit. I got out the most important thing that I needed.
Adan let out a sigh. “Crystal, I can’t believe you got an Ouija board. “Are you sure that it’s necessary?”
“Of course. I have to find out if there is something supernatural in the DeFeo house. Besides, we’re here for an adventure! Keep an open mind.”
“Crystal, if horror movies ever tried to teach us anything, is that never to contact the dead. It can bring trouble.”
I rolled my eyes. “They’re just movies, there’s nothing to worry about.”

3 Amityville House
Adan POV
I can’t believe Crystal. I would never have imagined that she bought an Oujia board. However, that’s not the worst thing that I just learned. We will be going to the DeFeo House today but at night. There will be a tourist guide to show us around the house, but that’s not the worst of it; Crystal paid for us to have the house until midnight.
Is she insane!?
Why did I decide to go with her in the first place? I know why, even though I tried to hide it from myself. I like Crystal, but I don’t think she sees me in that light. Why? I’m a good guy, I work and much more, but Crystal was more preserved in her private life. She enjoyed her privacy, freedom, and quiet. However, she was braver than I am. Maybe that’s why. Crystal probably likes men who are strong emotionally and physically.
Crystal never talks to me about her preferences in men. I’m here because I want to prove to Crystal that I can be brave. At the moment, she and I are in a taxi heading to the house. It felt like torture because I didn’t know what to expect. I would take glances at Crystal; she looked out the window, thoughtful. “Hey Crystal, are you alright?”
“I’m fine; I’m excited to go in the house.”
“You look the part,” I chuckled.
She smiled. “Are you having second thoughts, Adan?”
Darn, she knew me pretty well. “No, it’s just that you look very thoughtful. What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing in particular. We might catch something for my work and me personally. I want to know if something did possess Ronald.”
“I guess we will see tonight.”
I hope there’s nothing.
…………………………….
Night arrived. Adan and Crystal arrived at the house. There was nothing but silence as the cold air went by. “So this is the DeFeo house; I would have never imagined that I would be standing in front of the house.” Crystal smiled as her hair flowed with the cold wind. “I’m determined more than ever getting to the bottom of the DeFeo case.”
Adan was about to respond when the door to the house opened. An older man who looked to be in his mid-sixties walked out. He was bald, had pale skin, face wrinkles, and had light blue eyes. He was of average build with a stern appearance. “Crystal Cervantes?”
“Yes, that’s me. You must be Bobby Ajello.”
“That I am.” Both shook hands.
“This is Adan Thompson; he is a friend of mine who will be assisting me.”
The two men shook hands. “I gotta say that ya both are crazy comin’ here late at night. Ya wanna find ghosts here?”
“You can say something like that, Mr. Aejllo. I want to find out if something possessed Ronald DeFeo. Have you been a tour guide for a while?” asked Crystal.
“I’ve been tourin’ the house for five years. I’m retired and am bored.”
Adan raised an eyebrow. “So you decided to be a tourist guide for a murder house?”
Bobby chuckled. “Pretty crazy, I know, but ever since ol’ Ronny killed his family, I couldn’t get his case out of my mind. People were talkin’ about it ever since. Now ol’ Ronny is dead, and the reason why he killed his family will be in the mystery.” He looked at Crystal. “Maybe ya’ can solve the mystery.”
“Is that why you are letting us tour the house? So you can find out if Ronald killed out of possession or out intent?” asked Adan.
“Pretty much.”
“Question, I thought many professionals and ghost hunters have been to this house.”
Bobby sighed. “Yeah, but many were found to be frauds, so much of their work ain’t worth it. Ya seems to be legit. I hope ya can shed some light. I’ll show ya the house and will leave ya to it. When midnight comes along, I’ll pick ya up and take ya home.”
Before Bobby motioned them to follow, Adan intervened. “I have a question. You seem to want to know the truth about what happened in the house and Ronald. Why?”
The older man was silent for a while. “I was one of the police officers who got called to this house after the murders. I was the one who also arrested ol’ Ronny. Come on, let me show ya the house.”
The friends looked at one another but followed the older man.
Unknown to all three, a figure has been watching them from inside the house.”

4 Tour
Bobby led Adan and Crystal inside the house. When Crystal and Adan enter, a cold chill hits them, making them shiver. For Crystal, she felt her body tremble, and it wasn’t because of the cold air. She was in the house where the DeFeo family was murdered. The house was dimly lit, giving it a creepy vibe. “How does it feel to be inside a murder house?” asked Bobby as he closed the door.
“Creepy,” Adan and Crystal answered.
“I know. It’s what I felt when I first entered the house, but when I saw the bodies, it was somethin’ that I couldn’t describe. I guess I felt that a part of me died when I saw the bodies and Ronny.”
“How did Ronald react after the murders?” asked Adan.
“He would keep on sayin’ that ‘he made me do it.’ Somethin’ like that. Ronny looked like he was in shock at what he had done.”
Crystal looked around the house; her eyes were on the stairs. That was when she knew that the stairs would lead to the rooms where the murders took place. “Hey Bobby, could we go upstairs?”
Bobby eyed the young woman. “Wanna start upstairs, eh? Sure thing, but be careful, we don’t wanna disturb any spirits, if there are any.” He walked in front of Crystal and Adan; the two followed as they went upstairs. Bobby showed them the children’s room and the parents’ room. It felt surreal as they were in the same place where Ronald killed the family.
As Bobby was explaining the history of the DeFeo family, Crystal felt something was watching her. She looked around, but there was nothing but Bobby and Adan. It made her think if there was something in the house. Crystal was filled with excitement, but she and Adan would be left alone when the tour ended.
………………………………….
Here I am, another day in this miserable house. I almost lost count of how long I have lived in this place. It seems like an eternity. I cannot leave this house, no matter how much I long for it. I could only connect to the outside world by looking out the windows.
It has been so long since I felt the outside air when I was still alive when I was once a man. People would come to this house to visit, to know more of this house’s history. Typical people, if only the fools knew the truth. If only these people would try to connect with the spirit world, I could get out of this house.
Ronald DeFeo was quite the troubled man he was, especially with his family. I remember how much he reminded me of my former life and how I got trapped in the same place that reminds me of my misery. I thought I had to accept living here for the end of time, but then, three visitors, no, just two new visitors, entered.
Fascinating, a man and a woman. The man, Bobby, was showing the new visitors around the house. However, one of them caught my interest, the young woman. She looked to be curious and intrigued with the house. She even asked to go upstairs, knowing what occurred all those years ago. Just by looking at this woman, she is courageous. I watched as they all walked around the house while this Bobby explained everything.
“Well, that’s the whole tour of the house. As promised, you will have time to be in this house on your own. Remember, I will come by and pick y’all up.”
Wait, these visitors will stay? Excellent!
“Thank you, Bobby. Don’t worry, we will call if something happens.”
Bobby nodded as he looked at the two. “Careful, just don’t do anythin’ too stupid.” With that, the older man left, leaving Crystal and Adan alone.
“Crystal, are you sure about this? It’s not too late to turn back!”
Her name is Crystal? What a name? Well, time changes, as I have seen throughout the years.
Crystal merely rolled her eyes as she went to Ronald’s old room was; Adan followed. “Come on, Crystal, this is stupid.”
That man, Adan, he is quite the cowardly one.“Then, I notice this Crystal taking something out of her bag. When she took it out, a smile came across my lips. It was an Ouija board, just like the one Ronald used before I possessed him.
5 Ouija
Crystal sat on the floor, got out some candles, lit them up, and turned off the room lights. Adan was stunned as a cold shiver went through his spine. “Crystal, why was it necessary to turn off the lights? Wouldn’t it be better that way?”
She shook her head. “Electric currents and other forms of technology make it difficult for the supernatural to communicate. Why do you think there aren’t many hauntings in big cities?”
“How do you know that?”
“Google. Anyway, sit down. I can’t do this on my own; it would be nice to get a second person to help out if anything goes wrong.”
Adan reluctantly sat down in front of Crystal. “What do you mean if anything goes wrong?”
“Well, we don’t know what we might communicate with, and it’s nice to have someone to help me calm down if I freak out.” Crystal let out a giggle.
Adan shook his head. “And you don’t think I’m freaked out?”
“Well, at least we have each other to help one another.”
“Chris, I know you want something exciting to write about, Ronald DeFeo, but what’s the point even if something paranormal had something to do with it? Who is going to believe us? There are many skeptics worldwide.”
“Never fear, I have my phone recording, see?” Crystal pointed to her phone, which was held by the mirror stand.
The young let out an annoyed sigh. “That’s not going to be too convincing, Chris. People think we tampered with the video, and there will be people who will question everything. Many people don’t want to think of the possibility that there could be something out of this world.”
Crystal put her hand over the planchette. “I know many people are going to be convinced. I’m not going to waste my time trying to convince a close-minded person. I’m doing this for my work but also for myself. If something possessed Ronald, we could at least show that he was innocent.”
“But Chris, Ronald is dead. There is no point.”
“Be it as it may, whether or not Ronald was telling the truth, it needs to be known. If he wasn’t innocent, he did his time, but at least we can clear his name if he was innocent. Let’s get started.” Crystal motioned Adan to put fingers on the planchette, and he did so.
It was silent. The candles’ fire was the only thing that was heard. Crystal took a deep breath. “My name is Crystal, and this is my friend Adan. Are there any spirits here?
……………………………
(Ghost’s POV)
I saw everything unfold; I must admit that this lady is quite courageous. Courageous yet a fool at the same time. I cannot understand why she was adamant about proving Ronald innocent, even if some may not believe it. I cannot blame the lad for feeling that particular way.
In a sense, it is saddening to hear that Ronald has died. That boy was a troubled soul like I was when I was still alive and human, so it was so easy to take control of him. However, I was so close to taking complete control over his body to be out of this house.
I now stood before these two humans trying to communicate with spirits, well, with me. However, I can’t make myself known yet. Not to both at the same time. The woman, Crystal, if I remember, was the one asking me questions. No, I cannot answer, not yet.
I could see the impatience in the woman’s eyes. The man, Adan, seemed to try to get her to stop. I felt both of their aura. Crystal’s was the strongest of the two.
I looked at Adan; I couldn’t help but smirk. Yes, he was the one.
……………………………..
Adan stood up from the floor. “Chris, this ain’t working. We might as well call it quits for the day. Ronald was a psychopathic murderer, after all. There’s nothing paranormal.”
Crystal still sat with the ouija in front of her. “I’ll try it out one more time before we call Bobby. You can leave if you want.”
Adan didn’t need to be told twice as he immediately left the room, leaving Crystal alone. She kept on asking questions, but there was no response. “Damn it.” She stood up to get her phone. Once she did, she was about to clean up until there was a noise. Crystal looked down; she dropped her phone.
The young woman saw the planchette move on the board as it spelled something.
“Hello, Crystal.”
6 Communication
Crystal stood still as she saw the planchette move on its own. It spelled out her name. She didn’t know if her mind was playing tricks on her. The planchette stopped moving. Crystal waited to see if it would still move, nothing. She felt her heart beating nervously and excitedly.
She put down her phone and then sat down in front of the ouija board and put her fingers on the planchette. “Did a spirit just communicate?” The young woman wanted to slap herself; she thought it was a stupid question. Suddenly, Crystal felt the planchette move on its own. It landed on “Yes.”
Her lips were slightly apart; her eyes were wide. “Oh, man.” She didn’t know what to think; she didn’t think it would work. “Um, okay. What should I ask next?” she asked herself.
Then, the planchette moved and spelled out. “Afraid.”
Crystal realized that the ghost was asking if she was afraid. She remembered reading that many spirits and demons fed on the fear and anger of the living; it would give them strength. Crystal took a deep breath. “Excited. Now, onto business. Are you a good or bad spirit?”
There was no movement from the planchette for a while. Crystal was about to ask again, but it then moved. “No.”
This confused her. “No? Are you a spirit?”
“Yes.”
“I see. When you say ‘no,’ does it mean that you don’t want to answer that question?”
“Yes.”
Crystal realized that the spirit was intelligent; she had to be very careful. She didn’t know what entity she was dealing with. Crystal took a deep breath. “Okay, fair enough. I will be upfront. I came here for a purpose. I am here to see if what Ronald DeFeo Jr said was true, that voices told him to kill his family, that he was possessed. Simple question; do you know Ronald DeFeo Jr?”
“Yes.”
The young woman nodded. “We’re getting somewhere,” she told herself. “Is Ronald DeFeo Jr truly innocent?”
There was no movement for a couple of minutes until the planchette moved. “Yes.”
A cold chill ran through her spine. She didn’t know what to think. “Okay, were you the one who possessed him?”
“No.” Then the planchette moved to other letters; A-N-S-W-E-R.“
The ghost didn’t want to answer. Crystal let out a huff. “Okay, is there more than one spirit here?”
“Yes.”
……………………………………………
Ghost POV
This woman has courage; I will give her that. I could sense her energy; she was nervous. Usually, people would be afraid. This woman was honest with her purpose. It had been a long time since I spoke to the living. It did feel refreshing.
Crystal that is her name. She asked me many questions about Ronald. Some I did answer, but there were others that I didn’t want to. I had my reasons. I couldn’t let her know the entire truth. I had to motivate her to have more communication with me.
I also had to tell a bit of a lie that more than one spirit was in this house. I had to bide some time to gain more power. I wonder if this woman knew that the ouija board made the portal to the living more accessible and more manageable. She forgot to do certain things when beginning to communicate with me. It showed me that she wasn’t fully knowledgeable of spirits.
Perfect. I knew that this woman would make mistakes, making it more simple for me. However, I couldn’t answer all her questions. I need more time to make a plan. That man, Adan, was not present. I felt his presence in the lower part of the house. Out of the two, Adan was the weakest. I might as well make him more vulnerable. With my power, I sensed him walking around. With some of my ability, I made a couple of chairs move.
I sensed him flinch. I couldn’t help but smirk.
“Crystal! Some chairs move!”
I then saw the woman stop as she heard her friend. She let out a sigh. “I guess we will have to stop here.”
I let out a chuckle. However, before she could put the ouija away, I used my energy to move the planchette.
“T-O-M-O-R-R-O-W.”
I wanted her to come tomorrow. I need to know more about her.
“So, you want me to come by tomorrow? Well, I was planning to anyway; I need my answers.” I saw her put the ouija board away and walk out of the room.
Crystal saw her friend by the open door. He told her what he had experienced, and she did the same. Both got out of the house. I saw them through the window. I couldn’t help but smirk. That woman, Crystal, did as an amateur would do. She didn’t correctly end the communication with a ‘goodbye’ on the ouija board. She also didn’t sage the room, which could have protected her and her friend from negative energy. Both are filled with my essence, which means I have some connection with them.
I watched as they left, but I noticed something in the room.
A device?
I couldn’t pick it up, but I used my ability to manipulate it. This device was something that belonged to Crystal.
I cannot believe that everything is going where I wanted it to go. However, I had to learn how to use this device. I can use it for part of my plan. Also, I have some connections with those two.
So much planning, so little time.
7 Bobby
Adan and Crystal were sitting on the back of Bobby’s car, who was taking them back to the place they were staying. Bobby noticed how quiet the two were. “So, have ya found anythin’?”
“A chair moved on the lower part of the house. Scared the heck out of me,” said Adan.
Crystal glanced at Adan. “When you left, I had a connection with a spirit.”
Bobby glanced at the mirror, looking at Crystal’s reflection. “Don’t tell me ya used the ouija board.”
The young woman merely nodded.
“Ya gotta be kiddin’ me. Even supposed psychics wouldn’t use those things; they’re dangerous.”
“I know Bobby, but I need to get to the bottom of the mystery, whether Rodney killed his family. I mean, don’t you want to know?”
The older man sighed as he made a right turn and made it to their destination. “I sure do, but not if it means that one gets hurt. Just don’t use that thing anymore; it’s no good news. Ya gotta find another way.”
Crystal nodded as she left the car. Adan sighed. “She’s not going to listen, Bobby. When she starts something, she has to finish it.”
Adan was about to get out of the car, but Bobby spoke up. “Look, I know it’s none of my business, but ya have to be careful. Ya, also gotta keep an eye on her. I feel that there’s somethin’ in that house and if what ya both say it’s true, then ya both can be at risk.”
Adan was quiet for a bit. “Yeah, try telling Crystal that. She won’t listen to me. See you later.” He went off. Bobby watched as the two went to their place. The older man drove off back to his home, but he was thoughtful. Memories came back to him the day he found Ronald.
………………………..
Bobby was a young police officer who completed his first year. He patrolled the streets at night until he got a dispatch to the DeFeo family. The young Bobby has heard about the DeFeo Family, that they’re good people, but there are also rumors that Ronald DeFeo Sr can have a temper on him.
Then, the eldest child and son, Ronald Jr., was quiet and reserved. Rumors spread around the neighborhood and even the police station that Ronald Jr had been acting odd that he would talk to himself.
Bobby made it to the DeFeo house at 6:30 pm. He got out of his patrol car and went to the house. Every step he took, Bobby felt a sensation of dread in the pit of his stomach. However, he kept on walking. He knocked on the door. “This is the police; we received a 911 call.”
There was no answer. He called out one more time, but there was still no response. Bobby slightly turned the knob; it was unlocked. The young police officer entered while taking out his gun. The house was dark. “Police, is there anyone here?” The wrenching gut feeling got worse, but he continued to go upstairs.
He made it upstairs, and that’s when it hit him: blood stench. There were rooms on the upper floor; all had lights turned off. He turned one on. Bobby’s eyes became wide open with horror. He saw Ronald DeFeo Sr and his wife Louise in bed, laying on their stomachs, shot in the back. His heart was beating rapidly.
Bobby slowly took out his flashlight and went to each of the rooms. The Defeo children, Dawn (18), Allison (13), Marc (12), and John Matthew (9), were on their beds, shot either on the back or the head. Blood poured onto their beds.
“Wh-What in the hell!?” he told himself. Suddenly, Bobby felt a presence behind him; he turned with gun in hand.
It was Ronald Jr. He stood but was wobbling.
“A-Are ya the one who made the 911 call?”
Ronald stared at Bobby; his eyes held no expression, but there were bags under his eyes. “He made me do it,” he whispered.
“What?”
“He made me do it. He made me do it. He made me do it.” Ronald Jr kept on repeating the same thing. Bobby got his walkie-talkie and called for backup. The police officer also handcuffed Ronald, who didn’t resist.
Bobby felt that what happened in that house was not that long ago. He remembered how hectic it was when more officers arrived at the scene. It was surreal to him. Bobby couldn’t forget what Ronald said. “He made me do it.” He didn’t understand what Ronald meant, but he didn’t tell his other coworkers that a force hit him when he got a hold of Ronald. It was as if a force got out of Ronald.
Bobby then thought of the possibility that Ronald was not lying, that maybe something was in that house all along.
8 Dream Pt.1
“I have used my energy and power to try to work the device that the woman Crystal left behind. As a ghost, it can be challenging to work with devices that tend to change as time progresses, but eventually, I was able to see how it works. It is incredible how people have such ideas, more different from my time and era. I was able to see many things on this device until I saw a list of names, interesting. I saw the name that I was looking for, Adan.
I have seen people with these devices talking into them. I knew I could use this to communicate with him using this device. However, I had to find out more about those two. Since the woman didn’t follow the proper procedures for using the ouija board, I was able to put some of my essences on them; I could sense them. I was able to hear them and see them, but only for a moment. I was nothing more than a ghost, but I would have been stronger if I were human again.
However, all is not lost. I know black magic; I learned it from slaves; it felt so long ago. Yet, those blasted slaves have tricked me. They thought I would be trapped here forever, well, no longer. I know I have failed with Ronald, but I will not fail again. I must not fail! I had to plan this well to get out of this house. Well, I must put the first plan into motion.
……………………………………….
Crystal was in her room in her nightclothes, high school PE shorts, and a blank tank top. She braided her long curly hair so it wouldn’t tangle. She was on her laptop, writing about what she and Adan experienced on their first day in the house. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. “Come in.”
Adan entered. “Hey Crystal, our food was brought by uber eats.”
“Cool, I was getting hungry.”
The two got their plates and served themselves Chinese food. The two ate in silence. Adan would take glances at Crystal, who eyed her food, looking thoughtful. “Hey Crystal, you said that you were able to be in communication with a ghost with the board. What did it say?”
“I asked it many questions; some questions it answered, others it didn’t. It also told me to come by tomorrow.”
Adan shook his head. “Crystal, the ouija board is dangerous. Look, I believe there is something in that house. I saw and heard things move. It’s not a good idea to piss off whatever is in that house. That experience should be enough.”
“No, I need to know the whole story, Adan. If I have to piss off the ghost, then so be it. I don’t; it’s angry. Since it wants me to go back, it probably wants to talk.”
“You’re crazy, Crystal.”
The young woman shrugged her shoulders. “I know. If you’re afraid, you don’t have to come by. You can stay here while I go to the house tomorrow night.”
Adan was quiet for a while. It hurt him that Crystal suggested that. He couldn’t lie to himself that he was freaked out, but he didn’t want to look like a coward. “I’ll think about it.”
The two ate as they had slight conversations; Adan went to his room to sleep once finished. Crystal was preparing to go to sleep and decided to get her phone. However, her phone was nowhere in sight. “Oh crap, I must have left it in the house! I’m going there tomorrow; I can get it back.” The young woman turned off her lights, got in bed, and began to sleep.

Crystal POV
I felt strange; I felt that I was floating in mid-air. I was feeling cold air. I tried opening my eyes, but I felt like they were glued shut.
Suddenly, I was lying on something hard and cold; I could finally open my eyes. What the hell!?
It was the DeFeo House. Why am I here!? What’s going on? I was looking around; it was night, and 1960-looking cars outside were parked. I felt raindrops hitting my head; it started to rain, and thunder was in the night skies. I walked to the front door and knocked. “H-Hello!? Bobby, can you let me in!?”
There was no response, I tried opening the door, but it was locked. I was about to see if I could catch a taxi, but I heard a click from the other side of the door; the door opened. That’s strange. I slowly looked inside the house, it was dark, and I could see nothing. “Bobby!?”
Nothing. I slowly entered the house; the door closed shut behind me. I tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t budge.
Then…
I heard what sounded like gunshots. I heard thunder and hard rain outside the house. My heart was beating rapidly. The gunshots finally stopped; I waited for a while, but there was no noise, no movement.
I wasn’t able to get out of the house. Something was pulling me upstairs. I slowly walked up the stairs and made sure to hear any sounds. There was nothing but silence. I finally got upstairs, and I saw the rooms. I looked around to see if anyone was present, but nothing. Slowly, I walked to the center of the room, then a flash of lightning lit up the room.
My eyes were wide with horror; I saw the bodies of the DeFeo family shot. Another flash of lighting came along, and I saw a shadow behind me. I turned around, and I couldn’t believe who I saw.
“R-Ronald!? What have you-!?”
He held a gun in his left hand; his eyes were emotionless. “He’s here. He’s here. Go away. Go away.” His eyes turned pitch black; his face turned almost demonic. “GO AWAY!”
“GAH!”
I was breathing heavily; my heart felt as if it would escape my chest. I looked around, and I was in my room. I was sweating profusely. Why did I have that dream? It felt so real. I couldn’t believe I saw Ronald. Why?
Was he trying to tell me something?
9 Dream Pt.2
Adan was shrouded in darkness; he looked around his surroundings. The young man also felt cold; he only wore his sleeping clothing which consisted of gray sweats and a regular black shirt. Even though he was in darkness, he felt like standing on something sold, soft, and mushy. Adan thought it was strange but decided to walk cautiously and slowly. Suddenly, the darkness began to fade.
There was fog and dead trees. Adan stopped as he looked around; it got colder, and he shivered. “Where the hell am I?”
“Adan.”
He stilled. Again, he looked around. “Wh-Who’s there!?”
“Adan.” The voice sounded masculine; it wasn’t too rough, and it also had a sense of gentleness.
Suddenly, Adan saw a figure. “Hello!? Who are you!?” The figure didn’t respond. The young man gathered his courage and kept on walking forward. The closer he got, the more he got to see the figure. To his shock, it was Crystal. She looked different. Crystal wore a long-sleeved plain dress; her hair was let down and wavy. “C-Crystal!? What are you doing here?” As he was getting closer, he felt the ground stopping his feet. He saw that the dirt ground was taking him in.
Adan screamed and tried to struggle out of the grip. “N-NO! Crystal, help me!” The ground stopped with its movements; Adan’s knees and feet were inside the ground; he couldn’t move. The image of Crystal stood still, not looking at Adan. Adan saw a shadowy figure behind her, but Crystal didn’t look fazed. The dark figure was pitch black, and it had a demon-like appearance.
The young man screamed, trying to get away.
“Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! To think you have feelings for this woman, and you try to run away, not feeling concerned for her. It is expected from a true coward.” The demon-like figure then put its arms around Crystal’s waist and neck. “Such a beauty. This woman has more courage than yourself, Adan. I can see why she never looked your way. What kind of woman would desire a man like yourself?”
Adan felt hurt by the figure’s words, but fear overwhelmed him. Suddenly, the demon-like figure began to reach for him. Adan closed his eyes and screamed. However, nothing happened. He still had his eyes closed but slowly opened them. Crystal and the figure disappeared. Then, the ground began to take him in slowly. “No! No! Get me out of here!”
Then, a hand got a hold of one of his arms and began to pull him upward. Adan was taken out of the ground. The young man was breathing heavily; Adan opened his eyes. He saw a man who looked to be in his early twenties when he did. He had wavy golden hair past his chin; his eyes were emerald green, and he had a medium skin tone. The young man was taller than Adan, with a strong-looking body and facial features. The man almost looked like a model; it made him a bit jealous. However, Adan couldn’t help but notice the man’s clothing looked very old-fashioned, almost colonial. Yet, the man saved his life. “Th-Thanks, man.”
“Worry not, sir. I was happy to save you. You and your friend are in great danger. You will not be able to escape the evil’s grasp. Go back to the house, alone. I know you might be scared, but you will not be able to escape this. I want to help you. Go back!”
“Gah!” Adan woke up from his slumber. His body was filled with sweat. He noticed that he was in his room. Relief filled him, but he was still breathing heavily. Adan was about to get off the bed and go to the restroom, but his eyes widened with shock when he took off the bedcovers. His feet and legs were covered with dirt, just like his dream. The relief soon went away; Adan was breathing heavily again.
“What did I get myself into!?”
10 The Man
Adan couldn’t go back to sleep even if he tried; it was pointless. He couldn’t forget his dream and the man within it. It felt so natural to Adan. The man warned him that he and Crystal were in danger. “I knew we shouldn’t have gone inside that house! Crystal put us in a pickle!” The man also told him that Adan had to go to the house alone.
He shook his head. “I can’t go inside that house by myself! No way!”
“You are in danger! I will help you!”
Adan was shaking. Deep down, he knew that he would be in danger. The young man was scared to death, but he was afraid of what would happen if he didn’t do what the man in his dream told him. He wondered if he should tell Crystal about it, but the man did tell him to go alone. Also, Adan held some doubt that Crystal would believe him. She would also view him as a coward like so many people. He shook his head and decided to go to the house alone.
He got dressed and called for a Lyft since he had the app. Adan quietly got out of the house and waited for his ride to arrive. The car arrived about ten minutes later, and Adan went off to his destination.
………………….
Adan finally arrived at the house; it was still cold and dark outside. The Lyft driver left. Adan couldn’t help but feel cold as he looked at the house. He took a deep breath and slowly walked towards the house. Every step he took, a feeling of dread overcame him. He wanted to turn back, but he wanted to know what his dream meant.
The young man finally made it to the front door of the house. He got a hold of the doorknob and turned it, but it was locked. Adan let out a sigh of relief. “What am I doing? It was just a dream. I need…” He was interrupted when the doorknob moved, and the door slowly opened. This frightened the young man. On the other side, there was nothing but darkness. Adan felt his legs were shaking and weak. “I want to go home.”
Suddenly, a force pulled Adan inside the house and shut the door. He fell onto the floor. “What the hell was-?” An invisible force pulled his legs up and began to drag him to a different part of the house. Adan screamed in terror as he was pulled by a force he couldn’t see.
The house’s interior was dark, but he felt he had hit the walls and furniture. With what little Adan could see, he saw a door open and was being taken into it. Before he was forcibly taken to the room, he got a hold of the wall, trying to pull himself out of the grip, but it was no use. Adan was taken down to the room. His head hit the first step so hard that he lost consciousness.
…………………………………….
Time went by, and Adan woke up. “Ow, my head. What happened?” He slowly sat up and regained consciousness. His eyes became wide as he realized his surroundings were the same as his dream. “I’m here again!? What the hell!?”
“Hello, Adan,” said a masculine voice.
Adan cringed as he slowly looked behind him. It was the man from his dream. “Y-You again!?”
The man let out a small smile. “Indeed. I did tell you to arrive at the house. Forgive me, but I had to hide you as quickly as possible. Forgive me if I frightened you.”
“So it was you who pulled me!? You’re the poltergeist!?”
The man motioned out his hands. “Please calm thyself. I had to take you in before the evil could see you.”
Adan let out a sigh. “Okay, so how did I arrive here? I thought I was in the house.”
“You are, only in body, but I used part of my powers to be inside your mind. It takes much of my energy, but it is all I could think of. Your evil released an evil once again. You both are in danger, and I am here to help you.”
“How?”
The man let out a sigh. “First, I must tell you how it all began.”
Adan raised an eyebrow. “So, the hauntings and all that has happened in the house began with you? Who are you?”
The man let out a sad smile. “I will tell you all. I am Samuel, and this is my story.”
